Red Cone rises up to 12,801 ft with a more than 30% grade down to the bottom. Radical Hill goes above 12,600 ft with sketchy switchbacks and super narrow shelf roads. Two of Colorado's best trails and they can be run in the same day.

Great fun and beautiful views! We were on top of Radical Hill last week, we came up from Montezuma on Deer Creek then went back to Montezuma on Saints John trail. From Radical hill there is a good view of the trails down in the valley and the trails coming down from Red Cone. From Red Cone there are good views of the trails going up to Radical Hill.

Coming up through Montezuma is our favorite way of running those trails, normally we do Deer Creek to North Fork Swan River trail to the warming hut and then come back down through Saints John. This area of Colorado doesn't get any prettier than the trails in/around that area. Thanks for nice comment!

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, it's definitely a lot of fun to have the drone on these high elevation trails, it's so awesome to see so much more than you can just looking out the windows/walking around. Thanks again for the comment!

Awesome! I am spoiled to have the Red Cone trail head about 40 minutes from my front door. Do it at least once a year. Great footage and soundtrack. I'll be up there in a week or two. Red Cone, Radical Hill, SOB Hill, and Georgia Pass.......amazing area.

Hey Jim, that sounds like a fun day of wheeling! I like to run Red Cone to Radical, to Deer Creek to Saints John and back down through Montezuma. It's so neat to be able to drive OVER that mtn range and come back home a different way. Thanks for the comment, enjoy the trails!

Oh yes...SOB hill...I started that trail last year but didn't make it through it was the end of the day and my spotter wanted to get home. lol. I'm planning on making a trip back to SOB in the near future. I'll make sure to get some good video of it.

We have a tradition every year to do what we call the triple heart attach. Red Cone, Radical Hill and Garibaldi Gulch but not with Jeeps. We do it in Yeti mountain bikes. Wish I could share some images.

Holy smokes, that'd be a tough day of biking but so rewarding! How cool, glad you're using these awesome trails on your bike as well. Red Cone has to be one of my all time fave trails in CO...doing it on a bike (and going down toward Radical Hill) would be insane! Very cool, thanks for sharing.

Amazing video!! Thanks for making it and the hard work that went into it. I've only done Webster pass from Montezuma to hwy285. For good reason I'm drivin a 2019 F150 FX4 6inch lift 35x12.5x 20 nitto ridge grapplers, V8, Bilstien basic suspension. It's a four door 145inch wheel base a whole 8inches longer than a gladiator. My lift and tires help with some break over issues but not enough for Red Cone or Radical lol. But Awesome video and thanks for making it and sharing!!

Thank you so much for the kind words, I appreciate it! I think staying away from Radical with your full size truck is definitely a good idea, that was a squeeze even in my JKU. I've also seen a few stories this year about the trail washing out in some parts leaving it even skinnier in some areas, no thanks! Sounds like you've got a sweet rig though, maybe the other trails in the area (Deer Creek, Saints John, etc) would be less sketchy, lol - thanks again for the comment and have a great day!

Red cone would be no problem for you. I've got a 99 F-150 off-road on 35s and have done it twice. I've also ran radical hill in it too and at the top its narrow but the rest is not bad depending how you like shelf roads.

I attempted Radical Hill in September of 2016 and that left cambered section of trail before the switchbacks was very extreme feeling. Gotta make it back this summer.

I know just where you're talking about and yes, that's definitely a big pucker moment there. For me, it's right at the bottom of the shelf road before it starts to go up at the end. My Jeep is pretty wide (1.5" wheel spacers and 12.5" wide tires) - the big rock on the driver's side and the end of the trail on the passenger side is JUST about wide enough for the jeep only...

The camera doesnt do that off-camber section justice.. unless it has tamed since last year. Pucker for sure!

What mods would a 5gen 4Runner need to make it up??
@mandersen
@mandersen 4 жыл бұрын
I have a buddy with a 5gen and he made it in stock form....however, I'd say a lift and tires would be highly advised. The hardest section in of this trail is when you're still in the trees, coming up the switchbacks before treeline. There's some pretty big ruts that if your tires aren't placed right could potentially be an issue....if you are running stock, skidplates would probably be a good idea...

I am having issues posting from the Garmin editing to youtube do you use the Garmin edit for your editing?
@mandersen
@mandersen 6 жыл бұрын
Hey there. No, I don't. I import all of the video files into garmin edit. then export one huge file and then import that file into imovie - then upload that. I haven't had much luck at al with editing from Garmin's stuff, imovie is way easier. Hope this helps!

mandersen you that’s exactly what I tried today and it worked great. I was afraid that the MP4 to iMovie wouldn’t retain the overlays but it did. Heading to your area next July from MO to trail ride after watching all your videos in the last year

can you tell me which garmin virb you have nd are you able to see all the information such as grade and elevation and stuff while you are driving? THANKS
@mandersen
@mandersen 5 жыл бұрын
Steven Edwards Devildog 68 hey there. I use the garmin virb elite cameras. They are a bit old now (no 4K) but they still do a great job. It automatically overlays all that data into the video with its own software and then I export that out and edit the rest in iMovie.

can you do this with stock suspension rubicon?
@mandersen
@mandersen 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think you could. It's pretty rocky on the trail before any of this footage was filmed. With a good spotter, in a rubicon, I think you'd be ok. You could definitely end up using some of your skids plates under there though!

Nice work, I love the drone footage. Such an epic location. I ride this on my dirt bike and would love to get some drone footage one day. Also it was good to see the % slopes that were displayed on your Garmin camera. I've always wondered how steep it was exactly. Looks to be 30-35% for the steep parts. Here's what that trail looks like at 30mph on a moto. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q89xlLietrCxcmg.html
