I honestly prefer the old speed animations Except for looting and horses speed But player movement now feels inhuman

the pre aim system too, now as you lock on your look is temp disabled until you release aim, or you reach the targets stomach, before this was patched, you could aim upwards as you were locking on, which essentially meant insta headshots, then they "nerfed" it to where your aim always defaults to the chest, and you could only move aim after fully locked on

I started around mid 2019 if I remember correctly. The main thing that sticks with me is when the greifing issue got huge when the Bounty Role came out lol

I remember spending 15 mins delivering mail and getting paid 80 cents for my time. Grinded that until the method of killing the pigs and sheep around valentine became the go to method pulling around $5 a carcass. Then I remember the method changing to killing exotic birds and alligators in the swamps then selling the plumes which would net you ~$4 a plume + meat and feathers. Then I think it was session hopping and collecting the jewelry at hanging dog ranch which at that time would only sell for like $2. Dark times.

I wish they just increased the speed of the animations themselves and not the actual movement speed of players. Combat can just look ridiculous with players zipping around at inhuman speeds and puts that much more reliance on auto aim.

I remember the days when trouts and salmons were worth 4 dollars each. I think carcasses had more value also (some of them double if I remember correctly). Satchel collecting was the original collectors role before the actual roles came out 😂

Playing this game sence 28. 11.18 have experience everything remember my self grinding to buy a bolt action rifle and after beta made some 6k but after was falling to 4 k and though when i will be rich.. Now lvl 437 stoped few time probably now would be some lvl 500 or 600...i own 165k..1125 gold all legit.. i own everything what a veteran player owns.. Just waiting for bad ass uptade because this naturaliat one was okk but its going fast and i have find all garments just waiting for the new last ones.. This game have a lot of potential if rockstar focus more on it

I remember that in the beginning I experienced a lot more toxicity than now because now people are occupied with a lot of stuff and fun content instead of just shooting each other in Valentine.

It wasn't just the loading and shooting animations they cut. Holstering, storing guns on your horse, switching weapons, igniting dynamite sticks and fire bottles with matches before throwing them, and increasing the running/walking speed by about 50% came with the 'Gotta go Fast' update. Frankly I don't care as much about speeding up the animations (though I do still prefer true story mode movement) - but straight up just cutting so many of them from the game feels like a kick in the teeth to fans of RDR2's story mode gameplay which was based around slow-paced, realistic combat with highly detailed animations and wold interaction. Honestly would have traded the entire naturalist role for the ability to toggle them on/off. At least it would have helped me to get immersed in the RDR world again instead of running around taking pictures of animals for money.

I honestly liked knowing where everybody was on the map so I know where not to go. I don’t really like having to wait until people appear near me to see where they are. I do like the fast gun animations but recently I don’t know why but sometimes my shots miss a lot for some reason. I know rockstar did a change so you couldn’t get an immediate headshot for some reason it locks on above the enemies head which is kind of annoying when you have a lot of enemies shooting you.

RDR Online was officially launched in May of 2019. Prior to May was BETA.

For the gun animations, I liked the slow pace because it felt more cool and like the animations. The reloading or shooting had much more care to it. It also made you feel like every shot counted rather than just spam shooting because eventually you’ll hit them

Yeah, I remember the bad economy, and was (apart from the initial lack of content) the only reason I didn't get into RDR. So it was a pleasant surprise when I opened it up last week to see it fixed. Had I known that it was fixed, I'd have given it another go much sooner.

It's funny how talking about 'the good old days' in RDR2 makes me remember them with decent memories. True, it was a lot harder to make your way thru the frontier and to make money and rank up. But I think it made for great fun if you really loved the game. And to stick with it in those days, you had to love it.😂 Everything you've mentioned has made the game better, especially the economy. I do still miss the old way of looting. It sounded great and added a touch of realism to rifling someone's pockets. We all still play for the pure love of this massive and beautiful frontier. I for one am glad I was there at the beginning. Great video and thanks for the memories, (good and bad). Anyone remember Carcass Fishing? Wish we could still do that.👍

Remember when they put Christmas trees in our camps and a blizzard everywhere but there weren’t any animals anywhere? It was like some kind of post-apocalyptic famine world. Depressing as hell.

I miss the old shooting/reload speeds. This is purposely not supposed to be like GTA. I find it unfitting that temperature and food matter in this game, yet we have inhumane reload and shooting speeds. Sometimes a shootout with NPCs doesn't feel as fun because I'm faster than all of them and end up blazing through it all.

In terms of weapons I mainly use the Trapdoor Springfield Rifle with Express rounds, mostly for hunting but it's a 1 shot kill on the AI in Protect Legendary Animal. I average around 30-50 kills during the event and still have plenty of ammo to go hunting after. As of late though I've been cycling though all my weapons and bringing the reload speed stat to max, which has given me an appreciation for all the different weapons in RDO.

I wish they changed the animations back, the new speed ruins combat and it’s so un fun, now you have people crouching and strafing at super sonic speeds spamming repeaters and bolt actions rifles. I also like this game to be slower just so it feels more realistic.

I miss the long distance player icons. It was so exciting seeing people coming for you from a long way away.

I started playing day two of Beta, because I bought the Special Edition.

also, dont forget about all the glitching everyone used to do with duplicating carcasses and pelts. and the one that hit me the most was the Springfield rifle nerf, I used that gun all the time, I still do tho.

If I remember correctly the stranger missions didn’t start until a few weeks after the the release of rdro. There was almost nothing to do except hunt, grief, or kill npcs. In hunting everything was 1 star, and a 1 star deer carcass was worth maybe 50 cents. I remember running through valentine killing npcs with a knife trying to raise money for bullets. Looting an npc would be a nickel or less. They had gang hideouts and I ran out of bullets and died multiple times trying to finish it with a knife. It took several bullets to kill non player enemies. Even with head shots. Rockstar gave out several gifts of gold. The first stranger mission that I remember them adding was the Aberdeen pig farm. I remember going to colter and doing one for Jake Adler around the same time. I was level 19 when the first outlaw pass came out and frontier pursuits. I had enough gold to buy the whole thing. I guess because rockstar had given us that much gold. I didn’t max out the second outlaw pass because of broken animal spawns and broken camp spawns. I wanted that American flag poncho. I think I got to level 87. Damn you rockstar.

The varmit rifle is styled after the Winchester 1890 and its smokeless powder btw great video brought back some memories of spamming the varmit rifle in pvp

1 griefters nearly in every lobby 2 disconnect a lot now rarely 3 get greif lose what you have on your horse 4 lack of animals to hunt 5 at times head to see any side missions they did not respond to you or if they tell you what it is it does not comes, a bit laggy or it never comes and you have to leave the lobby to a new one

Heres a BIG one (to me) that I find a lot of early players actually didnt realize. Used to be, when you pulled up the list of your owned horses to set as the active horse per role, while out in the open (not at the stable), you didnt "only" have a list of their names. You could pull groups of horses up by their tyoe - ie Draft/Work/Race/War, ect... When the Role Horses came out - Collector/Bountyhunter/Trader only, you could search thru the "groups" for the same horses name in multiple groups, revealing precisely which traits the Multi class horses would have. So, your Bretons name would show up in say, "Work" and "Draft" horse I think it was. The Foxtrotter as a multi would show as a Race as well as a Work class. For NO reason whatsoever theyve completely removed that entire menu and all those workings. I miss that.

I remember out of map fun, going to Guarma. Also, few glitches or exploits and things worked mostly

I remember when you you could go to Braithwaite manor take a specific bottle of brandy go up stairs and take a piece of jewellery go out of the gate and come back to see the jewellery had respawned and keep going back out the gate and coming back. Doing that for like 15 mins and make $50. That and spot near thieves land at the railroad near the lower Montana river you could chuck a fishing rod into a small puddle to spawn fish then run around in it to make them swim ashore and take to the Blackwater butcher when you had finished. The lengths we would go to make $50 back then was horrendous. At least now I can set my moonshine shack to make some moonshine go grab a few carcasses to give to Cripps and resupply him every once in a while while doing bounties in between them. So much better. Though I do kinda miss the old charm to game had that it had no right having.

The Fish Nerf was a big deal for many. Fishing and hunting were the best ways of making money back in the day, and salmon and trout cost $5 each. You could sell 10 salmon or trout for $50. Many people were on that fishing grind making bank. I spent many hours fishing and made thousands this way. They then nerfed the fish prices so salmon and trout now cost $2.50 each rather than $5. They increased the prices of bigger fish such as pike, sturgeon, and Muskie, but the best way to make money was still by fishing for salmon/trout back then. It wasn’t until the Collector role came out that we had something even more lucrative for making money.

Been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox since release and I've been playing Online since day 1 and I hope it starts growing into a Outlaw game instead of a vegan snowflake fest it is now 😅

I remember when 'slow and steady' had the same circle as 'paint it black' and in the PvP series it was op.

Seeing how they changed the those gun animations makes me feel mad. Because a faster animation means a faster potential headshot. And all headshots were lethal, making it to when you got griefed, it went down to who could aim and put the aim up just a little at the head.

Theprofessional to add about the varmint rifle and i was able to handle the real life version at a gunshop i go to it fired a 22 short cartridge so less power than the more popular 22 long rifle on 22 rifles made later than the games setting as far i know, would have bought that gun but i did not have 400$ plus sales tax was nice and all original i believe 1897 or something was the year on it

I am a new RDO player. Since February 2020 to be more exact. One of the things that kind of bugged me in comparison with story mode, was the fast animations as you say. So, even if I haven't ever played RDO with slow animation I do want them in the game!

I remember I few of this, I started playing July 2019 a few months before the first roles came out I don't remember if it was bounty hunter or trader at the same time. But making money and gold was horribly tiring and it took a lot of effort and time lol.

I like the loot animation speed up but I would appreciate the holstering speed being slow so my gun just doesn’t teleport in my holster

The economy used be god awful, the Carcano at it's original price adjusted for inflation would be worth $23,799.72 today so I'm glad they did alleviate that. I'm still pissed that they made the gun animations faster, it's pretty ridiculous that every gunfight looks like bees mating with people running around and emptying a bolt action faster than fanning the hammer on a single action revolver.

9:33 Just going to throw this out here. In 2010, I put a .22 to my head- it was the only firearm available at the time- and pulled the trigger. I was knocked unconscious for most of, but not all of the following day. For the next two or three days, I just laid in bet, slipping in and out of consciousness, in absolute agony. After what I'm sure was the third day, I started to get up without falling down, cleaned up, and went to work with a bandage wrapped around my head, telling everyone who asked that I had taken a nasty fall.

Ah, the $1,000 Mauser. I mean, they go for about $3k to $5k today ... in 2020 dollars ... and with the antique markup ...

I like the slower gun animations way more. And I wish Rockstar would add a hardcore map where you need to be a higher level to get in and you can see everyone cuz free roam battles are way more fun than showdowns.
