Fun fact, during one of the first cutscenes in the game, when you go to raid the O'Driscoll camp during the Colter-chapter, you can see Mount Hagen and Micah's to-be-hideout in the distance, as if the game's foreshadowing that at some point you are going to make your way up there.

Isn't it awkward to think that we heard this epic, motivating music, but john just heard footsteps and gunfire? 💀

This soundtrack embodies everything in rdr2 so well. John finally deciding to go after Micah knowing this well set him down a road he can’t return from just to avenge Arthur was one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve seen. Despite their problems John and Arthur did love each other as brothers and somewhat sacrificed their lives for each other.

Fun fact: John can't swim because of the weight of his balls.

Micah is the reason the “Antagonize” feature exists.

If you never played the original red dead redemption when this starts playing you cannot imagine how awesome this game sequence is

I’ve always liked how Rockstar wrapped things up in a neat little bow. It explains things from the first game very well. Like how John got his scars. He was attacked by wolves. Why John is hunting down Javier, Dutch, and Bill. They were his former gang members and they betrayed him. Why you still need to kill Dutch. He walks off in the last mission of the second game. It’s not lazy writing unlike some games where it doesn’t even think of the events that took place in the previous game. Rdr2 revels in what happened in the previous game and doesn’t explain all of it, but explains most things.

If you die once during this mission, then it ruins the feel of the music

All my veteran rdr players. This was the moment we were waiting for. This right here is how we knew we were fixing to make things right once and for all!

I'd never played rdr1 yet when this music kicked in, my brain went full cowboy mode, my body got hyped up so fast I probably stood up playing this mission. I can only imagine the kind of emotion that veteran rdr players go through hearing this music.

This song feels like Hosea, Lenny, Sean, Miss Grimshaw, Molly, Eagle Flies and Arthur are cheering John from Heaven.

RDR1: ended with a heartbreaking song RDR2: ended with a badass song

I died so many times during this mission because this music makes you feel immortal.

Rest in peace, Arthur. You will always be in our hearts. And yes, that rat has died terribly.

right there at that moment, when joe confronts john and the music kicks in is where the classic RDR1 John friggin Marston is born/defined imo

RDR2: makes you forget how great of a protagonist John is by giving us Arthur Also RDR2: reminds us how good of a protagonist John is with a single mission

How did Rockstar create two legendary protagonists

I think this is the most badass mission in the game because at some point, in any other mission either you had a barricade or a friend to cover you. But in this case John is in a plain snowy mountain top, with his friends injuried, without cover and moving forward powered by vengeance.

This scene made me feel so immersed in the game, I felt the same animalistic anger and unrelenting grief as I spent so much time living the life of Arthur Morgan and being invested in his character. The song helps emphasise the emotion in the scene to a whole new level, as scores in any medium should.

Imagine being Micah in this situation. Enjoying a nice day on your mountain top house when all of a sudden you hear gunshots. You look outside to see the silhouette of the man you murdered 8 years ago, single-handedly taking down your entire gang with nothing but a revolver and balls of steel. You grab your guns and get ready at the door until you hear in the voice of a boy you thought nothing of and assumed was long dead shouts out “It’s John Marston, Micah!” You have come to the realization that this isn’t a spirit risen from the dead, but a man out to avenge his dead best friend.

The moment that John Marston became the man we saw in the first game.

When Arthur died we didn't want to play with John, we felt demotivated, but when he went to his way to kick Micahs ass we were reunited with him once again. The mourning was over, we were ready to do this. We were John in RDR1 again.

If Rockstar took 8 years to create a sequel that’s better than the original, I’m sure as hell will wait for another 8 years for red dead 3

Never has a game kept me so immersed and engaged as red dead, every time I got off I wanted more and more. Beautiful theme, conveys pure righteousness and resolve

This game was worth my 60 bucks, never gets old

Me at the start of the game: "I don't know how the new guy can top John." Me at the start of the epilogue: "I don't know how I can keep playing without Arthur..." Me at the end of the epilogue: "JOHN MARSTON! REMEMBER THE NAME!"

I realised something when I beat this mission again recently. During the credits after everything has kicked off, Ross and some agents show up and find Micah and his gang dead. Micah's comments about "all kinds of folk making social calls" and that "they're teaming up" suggests that this is also his first meeting with Dutch in a long time, and soon enough Agent Ross shows up, who we know in RDR1 is actively looking for Dutch and the known members of his gang. If you ask me, Micah was only meeting with Dutch to turn him over to Ross, no doubt under some false promise of freedom or getting a share of that money. Once a rat, always a rat. This adds a whole new layer to this mission When Micah tries to win John over in the final showdown and gives him that "join us John!" crap, he's actually hoping he can turn John in too. I mean after everything that happened and knowing that John is out for his blood, why would he want him to ride with them again? He's just trying to lower his guard and buy some time until backup arrives. Then this could also further explain why Dutch kills Micah. When John asks Dutch why he's there, he replies "Same as you, I suppose." Micah would interpret this as he's there for the money, but really he's there to kill Micah. Dutch may well know he's trying to betray him again, so he kills him and leaves. He spares John and leaves him the money to fulfill Arthur's final wish. And that's the tragedy of John's revenge. He turned up guns blazing, totally unaware that higher powers were already using Micah for their gain, and that Dutch was already there to kill him anyway. They probably planned to use their current and long-serving tool Micah to hunt down the remaining members of the gang, but when they find him dead it turns their attention to John. He unknowingly introduced himself to them, and showed them that he'd be the perfect weapon for them when the time came, and he wouldn't need bribing or self-interest to cooperate , his family would make perfect leverage. The end result is of course the events of RDR1. He should've listened to Arthur. "Run and don't look back" "Stop trying to be two people at the same time."

This was the one instance in-game where revenge wasn't only justified, it was REQUIRED. Micah was one of the most evil characters in existence. He was not only a murderer... he was a racist, a sex-pest, a pathological liar, a manipulator, a turncoat, and he tried to MURDER a little girl.

My favorite part of R2RD was when john said "sorry micah, but its time for my read death redemption too" and shot him 16 times in the head in the span of approximately 2 seconds
