It's funny how even though Dutch had thoroughly betrayed the two men he had practically raised, he couldn't bring himself to finish the job, and it was obvious. Looking at both of them while they pleaded with Dutch to turn back, he was confused and even scared. During Arthur's final moments, he struggled to even join Micah. It's possible that if Micah had never been involved, and Dutch kept his head screwed on, things might have ended differently.

I believe dutch was always egocentric and bad, cause he felt a great resentment against society for being poor, and alone, basicaly a wounded animal, but with hossea, john and arthur he felt emphaty, you know? Remember Dutch has all the blackwater money in the cave, he doesn't need money at all during all this time. Dutch just wants to stay in the U.S and create more chaos as an outlaw, which is not going to happen forever as the wild west is slowly tamed

"I'm gonna get you out of this *bullshit* if it is the *last* *goddamn* *thing* *i* *do* !" This song, the "Help John get to safety" it's a beautiful song that tells the story of a man who's capable of leave behind old disputes and anger in order to make sure the persons he loves the most get the second chance in life that he couldn't have, even the innavoidable fact that he's going to die doesn't push him back, because from the moment John escaped that cliff Arthur was at peace, and no matter what happened next, he got what he wanted, and now he was able to move on with no regrets. "Dutch. Micah... *come* *and* *get* *me* *you* *bastards* ! " The other song, the "Come back for the money" track tells a different but equally powerful story this time we have a man that still cares about the pending bussines with the persons that lead his love ones into demise. Thrusting John will get to safety anyways, he proceeds to turn around and unleash his fury on the ones who dammaged him as he walks into the woods, he knows that a corpse can´t use the money anyways, but wherever the money is, the rat that betrayed him will be there too, and that's exactly what he's looking for. Personally i think both endings are awesome and both of them are believable, this includes all of their High/Low Honor variations,, and i love how the Low Honor Come Back for the Money ending has a tense violin music in the background while your'e confronting Dutch (none of the other endings has music during the actual dialogue between Micah, Dutch and Arthur) it really feels like Dutch it's containing himself with all of his being from snapping and kill Micah in this ending in particular. Still, my favorite ending is the "Help John get to Safety" one with high honor, even tho getting shot in the face by Micah is cool the High Honor version it's WAY more fitting to Arthur's character, and i believe this is by far the cannon ending. I would rank all of Arthur's endings with: 1. High Honor - Help John. (My personal favorite) 2. Low Honor - Go Back for the Money. 3. Low Honor - Help John. 4. High Honor- Go Back for the Money. (Still good, but my least favorite)

it really depends of how you played the game imo, i played my second run as a proper outlaw, finished chapter 1 with already maxed negative honour i think, then, in chapter 6 i started to do every piece of content aside story and pretty much rank up that honor enough to get neutral, but i still kinda needed the money so i did my fair share of robbery and murder from time to time. after this whole dilemma with how i wanted to finish the game, The High honor- go back for the money feels so good because in my mind, i played it more like Arthur knowing that his road is going to end very soon but still want to do the right thing, but even in the face of death, he still falls down on his most basic instinct,which encapsulate pretty well the rage on the going back for the money ending since the whole thing plays out like a man with nothing to lose, wanting to draw the heat out of marston so he can escape, wanting the money so the marston family can get to safety and just making sure that Micah would never hurt anyone ever again. imo, the problem with that ending is that the voice lines are pretty much the same aside how it ends, for me, High honor going back for the money could be a lot better if Arthur just says that he is going to try to draw the attention of both Dutch and the pinkertons, and try to prevent the money to fall on anyone hands. i love the high honor help john, but its far too good for Arthur, and lets be honest, even if he become a better person on his last days, that doesn't mean that he is a good person... and he clearly deserved to die as he lived, Savagely.

- John looks off into the distance carrying his gun over his shoulder: symbolises his responsibility to his family and his gradual disillusionment with the gang and Dutch. - Javier stands in the back with his revolver drawn holding it to the side: chased from the place of his birth and stripped away from his heritage, he holds the one gun (the gang) as the final thing he won't allow to be taken from him. He remains in the back unwilling to depart from the direction the gang is heading, and serves to remind the gang members that fall behind the importance of belonging ("didn't that life we lead mean nothing to you?"). - Dutch looks on forward carrying the rifle over his shoulder: he carries the weight of the gang on his shoulders as the leader. He looks forward, as a visionary, the only path is forward no matter the cost. The left half of his face is covered in pitch blackness, which represents the creeping darkness that will eventually overwhelm him and turn him towards the 'left way'. It represents his blindness as a leader, and his inability to see the true devil on the left side of him. - Arthur stands in front with a rifle to his side: he is the shield of the gang, standing with broad stature ready to receive any threat head on. He would gladly die to protect any one of those he considers family. Guilt, regret and loneliness weigh upon just like the rifle that weighs downwards by his side. This inner turmoil however is often his greatest motivation, and weapon, for defending and sacrificing for those he owes his allegiance to ("all I cared about was loyalty"). - Bill looks on forward with the rifle covering his chest: loyal and unrelenting, follows Dutch and the gang forward and never questions. Bill is a broken man at heart, and he has since abandoned his self determination to confront and overcome his weakness. Instead, he covers his vulnerability with a long jacket and guards it closely with a rifle. The uneven brim of his hat can be seen as symbol for his damaged and lost state of being. - Micah looks to the left, his two guns drawn, one held downwards the other held upwards: he holds a falsehood in one hand, pointing upwards to feign sincerity. The other points downwards and conceals the horrid truth of his character. A two faced individual, the juxtaposition of the opposite pointing guns further indicates his warped state of morality ("That's all there is, living and dying"). Looking leftwards eludes to the classical Latin understanding of the devil being associated with the 'left way' (the word "sinister" is an old Latin word for "on the left side"). Furthermore, the upward and downward facing guns also represent the saying "As above, so below". The phrase has association with the devil and the occult, the imagery of which depicts Baphomet pointing one finger up and the other down. The saying is hermetic in origin however, contained within the Tabula Smaragdina, composed between c. 200 and c.800; a scripture seminal to the works of both Arabic and European natural philosophers. The quote itself defines the cosmic principle of 'correspondence', the idea that the functioning of the heavens (finger up) mirrors life on Earth (finger down), and that human life is subject to and intertwined within a grand spiritual cosmos. This is a general principle of magik and occult philosophy. In a religious sense, this would mean human beings reflect, and are a part of, the perfect form of god. But occultism places the devil at the centre of this relationship instead. In the theological narrative, the devil was cast down from the heavens, but he retained intense admiration of the angelic order and a detailed understanding of the perfect and pure state of the heavens, having once been a devoted servant of it. The devil's ultimate goal then is to duplicate the greatness of the higher plane onto the material plane, and manifest a distorted version of paradise here on earth in defiance of god (hence, this is a distortion of as ABOVE, so BELOW). - Charles can be observed walking side on with his shotgun in hand. He is obscured slightly by a shadow: reserved and concealed, but also incredibly strong and deadly; all of which is reflected by the sawed of shotgun he favors. Charles's Native American heritage has attuned within him a naturalistic and harmonic understanding of the world and morality. This often weighs upon Charles as he leads the lifestyle of a gang member. His side on walk indicates this inner conflict of belonging, walking the between of two ways of life and being unable to settle either way. His shadowed portraiture shows that it is indeed impossible to be two people at once. But he will eventually find it within himself to travel a straight path to capture his destiny. The setting sun: the final days of the Wild west draw near. It is now visible to all (whether they accept it or not) that they walk upon a world that neither needs nor wants them. The gang brandish their weaponry and stand together to face the shadows of the setting sun. The sloping ground beneath them indicates morality. Each of the gang members stand upon it to symbolise that nobody is above the scales of morality, nobody can escape the consequences owed to them ("People don't forget. Nothing gets forgiven"). However, it is Arthur, standing at the centre, who will face the most significant trials of all. RDR2 is at heart a tale of morality. Who are the good and bad guys, the lawmen that dictate and enforce what is right and wrong for civilisation (the federal government and the Pinkertons), or the outlaw that rebels against the tyranny to preserve his way of life (the gang)? Is it truly righteous to fight a hopeless war to the bitter end, and should ultimate victory be the sacrifice of the principals and the people who made you family? What really is betrayal? To travel down the slope, one finds themselves descending very rapidly into evil as temptation after temptation becomes easier and easier to succumb to. To travel up the slope is always the harder and more arduous task, requiring all the strength of one's spirit to resist temptation and remain steadfast up the path. But only true fulfilment is found at the top of the slope, only dishonour is found at the very bottom. Placing both the slope and the setting sun into context, we find the truth of Arthur's story. It's his race against the setting sun: "and all you can do now is decide the man you wanna be, for the time you have left." And alas, Arthur's story will end either below or atop the slope of a mountain.

This game felt real, like every character was a living breathing monument to film and writing. It played out like a highly cinematic film and the writing read like a classic western without all the contrived plot schemes. Every character was a living breathing human, and when they die, you feel it. Even when the ones you hated died, you still felt a punch to your gut knowing this character is gone, for better or worse. Playing through this game felt distinct, and real. It felt like a mirror to the world in 1899, but also a window into fantasy and imagination. This is all complemented by the subtle, beautiful score, which chimes in at the perfect moment. If you chose the "go for the money" ending you hear something kinda similar to this song. Arthur trudges through the blackened woods with Pinkertons in pursuit, revolver in hand, shouting to kill Micah and avenge everyone the rat got killed. Arthur is dying, and weak with every step. Both the player and Arthur know this, but he isn't slowed down. He stood taller and stronger than ever before, truly unshaken. He nearly defeats Micah in either ending, but he is tragically killed, only because he was too weakened by a sickness he contracted as retribution for his previous sins. He is survived by John who years later avenges Arthur to yet another masterpiece of music, ("American Venom") and is assisted in the vengeance by Dutch, the man Micah drove mad. Micah has no comeback, at least not a clever one, before he topples lifeless into the white snow.

@ProGamer Er...no offense to y'all but the PC wasn't limited to just that. You get a game that runs and looks miles better. I've played both versions and the PC version ( if you've got the hardware) is a real treat. You get higher frame rates everywhere- especially the towns and that was a pretty big deal for me atleast and with the latest dlss update it runs even better. All those additional graphics settings means you can tweak them however you like. The greatest advantage is the ability to mod the game. I used the John Marston restoration project which restored John's original appearance and added several details from the original Red Dead - it was simply incredible and made the epilogue feel so much better.

I can't explain it, but something about this song really exemplifies the entirety of this game. It feels tragic, and triumphant at the same time. It's like you can feel the weight of all those we've lost on our journey, all those who have betrayed us. And the high notes are pushing through the sadder notes, desperately clawing their way to the top, just like Arthur taking John to the mountain. Just so there can be atleast _one_ good thing that came out of this heartbreaking tale of a hero who gave everything, and received nothing except for the notion that maybe he died a good man

Don't forget the moment Authur has with his horse. Both high honor and low honor outcomes are the same. For a cowboy/outlaw their horse was their life, they took care of the horse and their horse would care of them. Authur going back to say goodbye while under gunfire shows how much he cared for his horse. I didn't cry at the end of rdr2 when Authur dies. But I did cry when he was saying goodbye to his horse. It really shows who he became at the end of the game and it was sad in that moment to realize that this was the end. Horse dies = Authur dies. It's the symbology
@Zeus222502 жыл бұрын
This theme has so much heroics and dispare thrown in. The ubeat sounds focus on Authurs finial fight, getting to be the hero instead of the villain and he's going to fight like hell. But the violens come in and bring dispare, you know what's coming you know this is it.

Me too. Especially the symbolism in it. Dutch kept wanting to go back for money, or keep trying to get more money- putting the lives of his group in danger. This one last time, Arthur, chose to do the right thing for once in the gang. And that was to finally prioritize their lives over the money, which sadly in this case, Arthur had to sacrifice his own.
@badasstoad9419 Жыл бұрын
8:03 I don’t know why but during that part of the track, I have a few words flooding my mind. “I love my family” and “You are actually kind”. One being Arthur’s voice, the other being the universe (and song) telling him “You were actually a good person. Don’t worry about your past mistakes, you can now die as who you really are. Doing what truly matters to you.” Like the universe forgives him. Beautiful ❤

I love the extended version, but I wish there was a version with the best parts of the song getter weaker and were condensed into just that ya know? To show that Arthur's strength is waning as the drums and guitar fade into a haunting violin melody. Reminding the player that this is the end, and that Arthur can't make it outta this one. As much as you plead, and desperately crawl toward the revolver. The 60+ plus hours you have spent with Arthur are ending. As much as you don't want them to.

Arthur was a bad man to many, but a hero to us. As the player, we watched a man who brutally murdered hundreds of people and still felt anguish and sorrow for Arthur. The Pinkertons were doing their job of catching criminals but we, we were fighting an emotional roller coaster. How come this can happen, Rockstar can make us feel sad for a wanted criminal. They truly put out a masterpiece of a game, and one that will be rivalled for decades to come. Playing this for the first time was an experience in gaming I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
