From a mission design standpoint this is just a very very bad joke. No idea how this got through „quality control“

1. At night time there are less guards. 2. Go for the west wagon. 3. Hide in the bush just north and shoot with rifle on the ground near a horse pulling a barell. 4. The guards will start shooting at you. Hop on your horse and flee. The guards are on foot. 5. The commotion will startle the oil wagon horses and flee westward. 6. Catch up with it and steal it !! Guards will be too far away , but hurry. You can even time this with the train coming, do once you crossed the tracks the train will block any pursuer

What I did was I threw a stick of dynamite into there and hightailed it out as fast as possible. When I came back the oil wagon was waiting for me outside the gates. Blast must've scared the horses. Either way, I avoided people shooting at me entirely.

Just wait till you see one on the map leaving the refinery. Catch him on the road and you should just have one guard to deal with. Drive it to the destination and you’re done. Screw all that other crap.Tried to go back no wagon. Got killed too many times sneaking in and jumping the fence. Blown up while getting away.

Died the 1st time while 80 dudes turned me to swiss cheese. Watched KZfaq b4 the next time and surprisingly there was a glitch and nobody was there... easy wagon jacking.

If you don't steal the wagon, you can go back to John at camp and he'll tell you he got one because he figured Arthur wouldn't do it then he tells you to go meet up with him for the train robbery when you're ready.

...or just have John do it for you.

I initially went in guns blazing and got a $300 bounty on my head all throughout New Hanover. Literally the only place I was “safe” was Blackwater, so I had to restart on my save from thankfully moments before I went insane with the carbine repeater.

At the drop off point there's a stable..walk into the stable and transport your horse..that's what I did saved me a long walk and hopefully yall to if yall read this!

No, you don't. Sneaking around the wall and jumping over the fence is the dumb way. All you have to do is ride up where the 1st guard is. There's an opening. You see the horse driven wagon. You can shoot at the wagon. The horses will be spook come running out. Get in the wagon and ride. The 1st guard will shoot at you. But,he won't hit the wagon.

I completed this mission first try. I didn’t even have to sneak inside. I just ran in and took the oil wagon and got away..

You can also sneak in from the other side. Under the platform theres a crawl space.

Why does everyone have trouble with this? I literally jumped over the fence, knifed a guy in the back and rode off with nobody noticing.

Lol apparently i got lucky and found an oil wagon when someone was already transporting it, made it way easier

The only way to do this is to wait for a wagon to leave. This on the other side is easy, no drama

Create a manual save just before attempting this cuz I probably died 10x before escaping and I just kept loading my save each time. It's GTAV mechanics all over again. Thanks R*!

I just went up the hill and fired one shot at the wagon on the right and the horse took off. The guards fired a few shots at me but i never got hit once. Biggest problem was my damn horse, constantly whistling for it and had to keep stopping and waiting for it. I think they dropped the ball with this part of the mission but hey, hope this helps.

I just went around the left side and shot the guard with a bow and jumped the fence while the guy that saw me ran around it, got on the wagon and zig zagged away

So I made it to the destination, however the oil tank has bullet holes in it and is leaking without an end in sight. That said it still directed me here and I can no longer move the horse cart, nor does anything show up that I've completed the mission or failed it. I'm just stuck here with two horses and an oil tank that is leaking. Nothing shows up on my map except for the yellow blip which is right where I am. Not sure if this is a bug, or if (because the oil tank is leaking) I have to restart the mission? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't seem to advance the mission any further.

I just cheated and stole a wagon that was being driven in the area just outside the refinery. I happened to run into the wagon when I was on my way to steal the second wagon that’s available and I used my lasso to pull the driver off the wagon.

Bro I tried it this way but they kept blowing up the fucking oil tank. I was getting really pissed off. Eventually I gave up and just killed all of them. I just rode my horse around and dead eyed all of them.
