Hello Dee, yes, time does indeed fly. Hmm, I suppose this must mean we are all a year older, damn, lol. I would usually have been to these rutting grounds a few times by now, but the weather has been awful there and very very windy in the valleys. I was grateful for the one good-sized Stag that I did see, as shown. There were other smaller Stags on top of distant hills, either biding their time or possibly waiting for a single hind for each to try for. Thank you as always, for watching and for your lovely comment, my good friend. 👍◕‿◕

Better late than never Rosco. ◕‿◕ It is an amazing location, but it doesn't half get windy there, even on a calm day. But it is fabulous on those moments when it really hots up as it can be tricky to know the best place to point the camera. I mean, something could be going on with different Deer to either side or even the fellside behind you! Thank you for your support as always, my Deer friend. 👍◕‿◕

The bit at the end is funny when the deer looks at you when chewing the grass. I always watched them all to the end and I loved them all. Thank you very much for them. :)

Hi Jarmila, I hope you are well. The Deer were not too active when I filmed these scenes over a week ago now and I hope the weather holds out as the forecast says for tomorrow when I should be returning. Hi Gaz, it took me ages to find the music that I think is suitable, after trying several others first. Hello again my friend, I have planned to return as many times as I can. This time last year I had already been 3 times and went 9 times in total. However this year the weather up there has been awful and continues to be that way. much rain and wind with dull skies. It is so out in the open that if you get caught in a storm, you simply get soaked and so does all your equipment. I am hopeful to return one day next week, even though the weather is dull. I am certain there will be more harems and more Stags about, obviously with more action too. Keep your eye out for further videos my friend and thank you as always. 👍◕‿◕

Hi Wildlife & Birds UK 😊👍. Thanks for the lovely landscape views. Thanks also for this first sequence of Red Deer shots. Such good zoom shots with them gathered on the opposite steep slope, with good strong lighting too. As you started to zoom back out, did the stag actually pick up on your small movement at that distance ? I look forward to following as much action as you wish to upload 👀 !! Best wishes, cheers, Don 👋 !

@WildlifeBirdsUK Жыл бұрын
Good morning Don, I was *very lucky indeed* with the weather on this day, considering the time of year and those hills and valleys etc. I returned there yesterday, as it was the only day over a 3-week period with a break in the rain! But even then, it did drizzle down a couple of times and I did get caught in it as it is just so open. It is only in the late afternoon that the sun (if there is any) hits that side of the valley and illuminates the colours of the ferns and grasses etc and of course any Deer that are present. It's a fair question on the Stag too. The truth is I have no idea at all, but I can imagine with the Stag so preoccupied with his quest to mate with any Deer coming into oestrus that he wouldn't be bothered about me at such a distance and it was likely another hind or something interesting to him, directly in line with me. It looks like bad weather there for at least another week or more, so I won't be able to add as many Deer Rutting videos as last season (9) and will be stuck at home more sadly. Hey-ho that's the Uk for you and I noticed your next video is in Mallorca/Majorca, which I am about to watch with envy. thank you for your continued support my good friend. 👍◕‿◕

Hello my friend, indeed, I had my 3,000 mil lens fully extended when filming these scenes. So any wind means it is not worth bothering as even a tiny lens shake is exaggerated on the 'actual' footage and is very shakey and useless. And if you get caught out in the rains in these valleys... *you get wet* and so can your camera. I have been waiting for the right weather to return there for over a week already, it really is in the laps of the Gods. Anyway, thank you for watching and for the nice comment. 👍◕‿◕

Dear Jane, I have not watched the Plovers yet but I did not resist! ^ ^ The subjects are wonderful as always, and not only the dominant Stag, but I liked a lot the panoramic view that You offered! This is a fabulous area!!! Is it different from that of last year? I have never thought about it but I imagined they remained in the same area. Hoping Your week started well dear Jane!
@WildlifeBirdsUK
@WildlifeBirdsUK Жыл бұрын
Good morning Andrea. It is the same area as last year, but I showed a little more this time after I had to search to locate the Deer. I wondered if I had gone too early in the season and then thought they had moved somewhere else, as it was over 5 hours after my arrival that I saw my first Deer on this occasion. They don't actually remain here all year round and must be over the moors and in some of the woodlands for the rest of the seasons. This is just where the hinds head to and of course, the Stags will always find them. All the woodlands in the area are on private land so I do not know which woodlands they stay in, or how far they travel to arrive here. My week did start well as I returned to this location yesterday. There were more Stags around and the hinds had split up into smaller groups. It is still early in the season though and they will be more active as the days go by. Thank you as always and I wish you a great week ahead, my special friend. 👍◕‿◕

Thank You very much dear Jane for explaining me how they behave in the rest of the year too. 5 hours of waiting are a lot of time and this add value to Your document, and the fact that they gather here from their unknown habitual places adds further value and fascination! It was a pleasure to read about this good start of the week!!!

@@AndreaNature Thank you Andrea. I know it is interesting to you and that you read my detailed responses, so that is why I do this for you, my valued friend. I now have 72 videos to watch back and edit from yesterday afternoon until dusk. Many are useless as the wind caused so much camera and even tripod shake. I'm aching all over this morning, but have so much to do. I would rather be busy than bored though. I wish you and your family a lovely day and a great week ahead. 👍◕‿◕
@AndreaNature
@AndreaNature Жыл бұрын
Gosh, 72 videos mean a great harvest but even a lot of job to do! Unfortunately I understand how the wind can ruin any recording. Sometimes I got better results hand holding the camera and stabilizing the footage rather than using a tripod, but this is just one of my best excuses not to bring a tripod along! ^ ^ I hope that You will be well soon! I actually have backpain quite often working in the field, but I like continuing anyway ^ ^
@WildlifeBirdsUK
@WildlifeBirdsUK Жыл бұрын
@@AndreaNature It's quite boring going through the videos. The way I do it is to watch each one through and delete the useless ones the first time, time from either end any that look ok in parts, and then eliminate further as I go along until I can see my 'story'. The its all another major edit to finish. I went to see a surgeon to talk about fusing my bottom 3 discs and adding metal rods and screws, which frightens me some, but after a physical examination of my Coccyx it is suspected I have coccyxdenia also. I struggle to sit down for more than 10 minutes without nasty pain down there. I am waiting for more MRI scans and then possible injections of anti-inflammatories. If they don't help the surgeon wants to remove my tailbone!!! It is all very scary and I will stall it until I can no longer take the pain of it all, then reluctantly may have to have both surgeries and there are several risks too. I know things can always be worse but I would love to have some part of the rest of my life pain-free and be able to sleep better. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
