OK, so you wanna make the cut on the emotive main drain just where the secondary drain emergency drain is inside the sun just below the baffle this way when the pipe is connected. You can set a schedule on the redsea roller. This means maybe between 10pm- 8am, the Matt won't turn. Then, he does not hear the noise of the motor turning.

@David Sheppard The water volume running through the hose into the bucket area is quiet. Once filled up with water, the main part through the fleece is turned off or on a schedule, then only the running water over the sides you may hear. I will try today to upload a video of the noise when it turns for the fleece and one when reef matt turn off so can here the trickle of water.

The sump is standard red sea, no baffles to raise water level. Plus, it would overflow when the return pump shuts off. It's barely noticeiby from the reef mat bucket.
