Cute Red Squirrel husks a huge walnut that's about the size of a baseball. This is the full, real-time version from arrival to departure. It takes the squirrel 8 minutes to complete the task. An accomplishment this impressive deserves a real time look. An absolute picture of pure determination. The time-lapse version is at:

The Red Squirrel union would be proud of this guy's work ethic, professionalism and expertise. He is almost serene. Wow! He got his own nut and unhusked it without drama, loud cussing, brawling, a psychotic break or a near-meltdown. This is very, very, very rare and you should preserve this footage for posterity.

Have a squirrel in my garden...I call him Nutklins and the other day he tried to take the whole of his dish with him 😊😊😊 adorable. He love his peanuts ( shelled and unshelled) and hoards a lot in the garden but I do not mind....bless his little heart. Unfortunately, I have some moronic neighbours who send their cats out deliberately to harm him....just shows how sadistic some people are.

That's amazing. Black walnuts are no joke. One of the hardest nut shells in the world surrounded by a pulp of toxic black goo. This squirrel just tears through it.

I have a large black walnut tree in my suburban yard. It drops a few hundred of these green husks each year. There are at least two squirrels who live on my property and they gather every single one each year. The green husks are very hard to open by hand. They're like coconuts. The squirrels must be so happy to have a big walnut tree in their territory. It's like a supermarket!
@GameChanger597
@GameChanger597 3 жыл бұрын
They are easy to open when they're green. Just cut a straight line through the middle and peel both ends right off. It's when they become dark brown or black that it's much more difficult to peel because the outer shell is almost like wood. Most people try to smash them open with hammers which makes it very difficult to remove the outer skin but when you just peel it off it becomes a cinch. Cracking them open is what's difficult. You usually have to get a nutcracker specifically for "black" walnuts to crack them open. If they're regular store-bought walnuts then it's a lot easier to crack open :)

Wow! That is sheer determination! And some really sharp teeth! To think that he whittled that walnut husk all the way down to the nut and then the meat inside... Sometimes His expressions or his movements we're so intentional -"I will get this nut open and I will eat it! As God is my witness I won't go hungry again!" LOL! I've been picking up wild nuts when I go on my walk in the mornings. I carry a bag and gather them up. I hand them out during the day for them to have something to know on I'm sure they go and bury them immediately I was looking for videos to see a squirrel actually crack open nuts.

This is one respectable red squirrel you filmed here. The red squirrels in our backyard are lazy. The little gang of them wait for the grey squirrels gang to husk the walnuts before they chase them out of the trees so they'll drop their stash. Then the red squirrels can steal the husked walnuts and eat them. Tis like watching Squirrel Wars!! o_o/
