*VERY LONG IDEA*would be cool if he could have an actual permanent shop but he doesn’t ask Tom Nook to build it. The shop would be at the secret beach and he would have to clear out some land and hide the shop with trees. The shop will take 3 days to build. It would also be cool if the day the shop was built and you would walk over there Tom Nook would be there wondering around the entrance wondering why a huge gap has been replaced with trees. Your only option is to lie to him about it and the 2 lies would be “ My friend came to my island and ruined it” or “Isabelle said I had to plant trees but I had no room for them”. Once Tom Nooks leaves and you go inside Redd thanks you for saving his shop and gives you a real piece of artwork for free. Also your villagers can ask you about it every couple of weeks and you have the choice to tell the truth or lie. If you lie they say they will keep wondering what it is and if you say the truth they promise to keep it a secret between you, them and crazy Redd. That’s my idea for the game!

About 3:12 ... there's always at least one genuine piece of art. Sometimes you may find two genuine pieces and two fake pieces, because some of them actually doesn't have fake versions. In Redd's first visit to my island, I really thought that all the 4 pieces were fake, I took screenshots and decided for one piece that I wasn't able to find on the internet (yes, I did it without using game guides, instead I looked for images of the real art they're based on ). In the end, the piece was indeed fake but after checking the screenshots, I noticed that I just made the wrong decision.

A loophole I found around the 1 art piece per day thing is, if you have another resident on your island, they can also get one art piece on the same day. So you can technically get everything from Redd’s shop if you have enough residents on your island

Based off my calculations, Redd's furniture items are 50% more than Nooks. Using this information, art would sell for 2,490 bells if Nooks sold them. Also, art prices, while thought to be 10 times less than the original, are actually 100 times less than Redd's original offer.

Anyone with a full art collection HAS to be time traveling. You’ll be LUCKY if he shows up once every other week and you can only pick 1, and that combined with a possibility of no real paintings or guessing wrong without using a guide, my art gallery is still mostly empty MONTHS after the update. 😕

Being an art major comes in handy with Redd XD luckily the grand majority of the paintings are ones I know of and can spot the odd ones out (though the serene almost got me because i couldn't tell that the color of the ferret was different and I wasn't familiar with it. )

I used the polygon guide for around 20 pieces of artwork and it was a pretty good source.

In New Leaf at least, you can have two real, though rarely. (Generally if one is of the "always real" items.) I can't recall a four-fakes situation, though. Interesting that they increased how often you can visit the Fox, though.

My first time on redds boat had all real paintings and one fake statue so it's nice to know it's pretty random.

I used Google Lens to identify the paintings, then compare it to the one in the game. The second time I had Redd on the island (after the initial meet and upgrading the museum) I identified two artwork that was real, and an artwork and statue that was fake. I should have used my second character to buy the other artwork - maybe next time.

People say animal crossing doesnt have enemies, but he is the enemy by trying to scam us

How to find out if redd is on your island without taking the annoying journey: Go on your nookphone, and check your map, if you see redd's icon on the top right corner he’s there :)

How often does Redd visit your island? I've only seen him show up a few times, and I've had New Horizons for a while. I don't go all the way north on my island that much, but he's still never there when I do.
