In defense of some of this though: Some of these people seem to just deliberately go into the AMA with resentment for them in the first place, trying to show or confront with (allegedly mind you) dirty laundry - which any person has - or just on the get go looking for confrontation, and then demand they answer them so they can keep up the abuse. And if they don't, they will increase their resentment and create even more drama jumping the gun. Very toxic behaviors.

AMAs are like standing on a street corner with a cup and a cardboard sign that says "Will have deep, thoughtful conversation" and expecting people to take you seriously. -- In retrospect, having a cardboard sign out in the real world might actually be more productive than Reddit AMAs depending on your choice of location.

Before Reddit AMA there was MSN chat where you could join the chat room where celebrities would join and ask them anything. I remember one time in the early 2000s Steve Irwin's wife Terry joined one of these hosted celebrity chat rooms, and the internet being twisted & perverse began to ask her raunchy questions regarding Steve Irwin's man bits and other sexually explicit questions. Needless to say that event was short lived as she left the chat room 5min later. In that time she was very kind and sweet, but understandably had to leave as the internet was a far too savage landscape.

My couple of my favorite celeb AMAs were Drew Goddard and Buzz Aldrin. Drew understood reddit culture and leaned into the memes while also thoughtfully answering questions; Buzz also thoughtfully answered questions and shared lots of great stories. I think successful AMAs all had people who came across as sincere: they spent time answering questions and put some thought into their responses. Sunny, I agree this might make an interesting video topic... then again, it's often more entertaining to watch train wrecks than watching trains smoothly chugging along.
