I got banned from a subreddit simply because I followed another subreddit. I never posted anything there. In my experience most mods are just awful and you’re not allowed to have any opinion outside they want you to.

I stopped using reddit a while back, not for any specific reason, just as a general move for better mental health. But it's interesting nonetheless hearing these stories of moderators turning sour. I remember there was a huge story for the r/art subreddit, which ended up sparking a debate about not just AI art, but the issues that arise when a mod acts in an overly antagonistic way. It seems Steve Huffman has taken a page out of that same book, resulting in the current PR nightmare for the company.

I was banned on r/movies for saying Disney lost Billions due to woke man hating femboss movies. (Which is a FACT) - The ban claimed i was 13 yrs old. When i appealled, the mod said it was a Fact i was 11 because i posted on an investment subreddit about a stock i liked. (A minor would have No Clue about investments) Mods should have to use their Real Name, and Pic, and have their address in their bio.

Why don't people report the mods?

OMG! One of the few times I can actually comment something worthy to a video. I'm user /Pelusteriano, I modded /Guitar for about 2/3 years, around 2017. Code347 and ninjaface have always been a pain in the ass. Back then the active mod group was comprised of /ChuckEye, /iamchets, /seehocks (who removed his account), and myself. Code and nf barely posted and performed any mods actions. When Code posted, it was comments in porn subs, go figure. When we tried to make the sub better by actively engaging with the users, Code and nf didn't like it because we didn't ask them. The thing is... They were never around, it took months for them to answer anything. We weren't going to wait months for a reply. So, we decided to do something about it and make some changes without their consent... And they didn't like it. It hurt their little egos and their status quo as head mods. Things got heated and all but Code and nf removed us as mods and banned us from ever posting to the sub. Since Reddit uses a totem-like moderating style, older mods outrank younger ones. Therefore, a mod who is barely active but became a mod before you can remove and ban you without anyone's approval. Any former mod (even KZfaq creator Ben Levin used to be a mod, he was removed a few months before I got the position) will tell you how awful it is and, if you mention it, they get defensive and end up banning you. The constant come-and-go of mods is one of the reasons why they decided to change the settings of the sub to hide who are the mods. --- About the engagement, it has always been low because users mostly post pics of their gear (because they want to show it off even though most of it is generic guitars), and the great bulk of users are beginners looking to get their questions answered (that's why we began the "No Stupid Questions" threads and tried to kick off the FAQ Project). But since we didn't suck Code's and nf's dix, all of it was brought to a halt, removed, and they banned us.

I joined a creative writing reddit once and the rules said that you can't post links to you blog or anything... you have to do all your creative writing as posts in reddit! I made a post about what I've been up to with my creative writing and they deleted it saying it was 'lazy'... Such a hell site... FYI... currently writing a story about a psychotic girl who thinks she's the second coming of Jesus... (spoiler, she changes the world (atheist jesus))
