I began using Cakewalk in 1987 or 1988. Cakewalk ran great on my Kaypro 2000 laptop with Korg DS-8 keyboard. I can't believe I was at the very beginning of all the MIDI sequencer technology! How did I afford a Kaypro 2000 and Korg DS-8 in the late 1980s?

Please UPDATE with a new video that includes the new "Cakewalk Sonar" - released in 2024. I just paid $112 for 1 year to use this. I'm excited.

It's funny because in my state at Malaysia still think that all of our local artist didn't even use autotune on their vocals. Hahaha! But autotune is one of my top plugins on the go for mixing singing vocal and melodic rap vocal.

So i have used reason since v1. These days I vomit at even the thought of using reason as a standalone DAW. It's ok for simple arrangments but any thing larger and its a nightmare to use. I rarely use it these days and when I do its always as a plugin in other DAWs. To me this company and this DAW died many years ago and its just a slow burn now. Its so far behind modern DAW interms of workflow and features that they will never catch up.

I think there are quite a few KZfaqrs still using Vegas to edit their videos. But it seems like most KZfaqrs use Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut. Heck, some even use DaVinci Resolve.

Wonder how much it cost back then to get fmu & 3 other fm statios to do that. Great marketing strategy. Off and running. I'm at 9:17 and I'm thinking individual artist & owner of Norwood & the ' music' probably sucks. The co-worker at fmu was jandek.

Aboutca decade ago there used to be this Transhumanist nutta called Mat, a teacher at Access To Music Brighton, he was very active on the REAPER forum (yet he never contributed in anyway to reaper but spoke like he owned it), he'd write long rants about interfacing DAWs with human brains, getting rid of all hardware (including midi controllers) and argue with absolutely everyone, absolute knutjob he was, unfortunately he convinced some of the students to join his (what was basically a) cult at the time. Anyone know what ever happened to him?

You forgot something very important, with Cubase 7 and Nuendo 6 the Asio Guard technology was introduced, and with it 64 bit. Background The Cubase and Nuendo audio engine is designed to process and play back all audio signals in real time. Everything you hear has just been processed by the CPU. There is always a little ASIO related offset (the latency) but this latency can usually be reduced to an (almost) unnoticeable value by setting the buffer sizes accordingly. The buffer size basically is the time frame in which the audio processing for each ASIO block has to be accomplished. The smaller the buffer size, the more important a properly configured computer system and well working drivers are. Only then the application is able to execute the processing reliably thus making optimal use of the available CPU resources. If there is a delay, it can happen that there is not enough time left to process one audio block which leads to audio drop outs. There are various reasons for such a delay. It always depends on the operating system, the audio hardware in use, drivers and the general system setup. However, the result is always the same: even though theoretically enough CPU power is available, audio drop outs occur. ASIO Guard This is where ASIO Guard sets in. The aim is to become as independent as possible from the strict ASIO real time requirements. Whenever there is CPU time left despite the required real time processing, the upcoming buffer blocks are pre-calculated to have them available for the next ASIO block cycle. Under certain circumstances, this method can stabilize or even increase the resources available for audio processes. The effect on the overall performance not only depends on the hardware environment but also the specific use case. For instance, audio channels that are monitor enabled cannot be pre-calculated and have to be processed in the time-critical real time path leaving fewer resources for ASIO Guard. This increases the risk for audio drop outs again. With ASIO Guard enabled, Cubase/Nuendo will try to utilize the less time-critical path as much as possible. The assignment is an automatic and dynamic process. A monitor enabled channel will be removed from the ASIO Guard mode automatically. Once the monitoring is disabled again, the channel will return into the ASIO Guard path. Because of this dynamic reallocation, it is advisable to monitor the VST performance meter to be able to address potential overloads.

this has the second best piano rofl only behind FL studio, imo, it feels rely nice to use. compared to FL, i like that you have both normal midi items (like reaper nad most daws) AND 'patterns' (like FL) allowing you to choose whatever option fits your needs more. i personally find it a little annoying in FL that EVERYTHING needs to be a pattern. also has one very cool usability feature - rolling mouse wheel over notes in reusable pattern/drum editor changes velocity of the note. it's such a nice and intuitive feature i was surprised when i launched FL studio for the first time and found out it's NOT there xDDD

REAPER is the only DAW I've worked in - so I don't know how other's compare. But when I watch mixing videos - with people working in others DAWs - they seem clunkier than REAPER. Setting up Sends and Buses in REAPER is super simple by comparison. I love the Actions menu - the custom 'skins' available. The resource videos available are insane (Kenny Gioia: I'm looking at you). Love REAPER

What if splice and other sampling companys just send their whole library to content ID and give it free clear pass so that no one can content ID the specific sample, only the unique combination of samples or their own made samples
@jacksolarmusicmastering
@jacksolarmusicmastering Ай бұрын
the solution is to copyright songs as a whole (the combination of the beat with melody, vocal etc), not a melody on its own, so that the melody on its own cant be copyrighted since u got it from splice but the combination of elements with that melody should be able to be copyrighted (the specific beat, with specific melody, specific vocal combination). ps. if splice sampling give that much problems while they're billionair companies then they should get sued aswell or atleast fix this problem with for example my example.

I was using SoundTools in 1990 end I had my personal using ProTools 4.0 in 1997. It's still my main DAW and still the one that feels like a "real" studio. Every move or path is possible in PT just like a real studio and I now work happily on my M1 Pro laptop for my daily mixing and mastering. A real dream come true. And the plugins today are as good as any hardware around, and the recall is there in seconds, AND I can mix on my terrace looking to the seashore... Midi is improving but I still use other DAW for production... Room for improvement. Still expensive though :-(
