One of the original sweet 16, the custom Corvette is a collector favorite. In this video I will go through how I restore this car to its former glory. Ebay link if you would like to see prices for this car... tinyurl.com/y7xp9p6j

As a kid, we used to bend the wheels down intentionally because if you could get a car to ride on just the outside edge of the wheels, It would eliminate some of the friction, and they were considerably faster on a piece of flex track.

I am no expert but that looks convincingly original to me. I like the effort to not alter in a restoration like this.

Another work of art. You are making many people think twice about paying $200.00-$400.0 for a vintage mint.

Finally I come across a restoration that matches the redline wheel trim, and a gorgeous Stingray at that! Today is a good day.

This was the first HW's model I owned.. Here in the UK They seemed rare and exotic... I used to spin the wheels and time how long they ran for with a stopwatch.. 🤔..Wow, the 10yr old me really knew how to have a wild time...😂👍 Great channel...

SU-------PERB!!! I love that you are aiming to get as close to the original finish on your redline restores. There's something about that '68 spectra that just says hotwheels. Thanks for another stellar video Sir. I'm sure I speak for us all when I say we never ever get tired of your presentation and innovation

My father taught me cars, from back in the day when you could start swapping a motor out in the morning and drive it later that evening. I always enjoyed the paint/body work more than engines, but these days have no method or means to work on full size vehicles. I do believe you've given me the inspiration to do paint and body work on scale cars. How perfect is it, a few hours here, a few hours there, blood sweat and tears, all in the palm of your hand. Appreciate the work you put into these videos, not only fun to watch but inspirational as well.

I've never watched this type of video before but I gotta say it was a very fast 7 minutes. The level of detail and thought you put into every single aspect of the restoration was amazing. Like how you're careful not to make it too perfect for historical accuracy. Quality stuff man good work.

Sweet little red Corvette! Man, who woulda thunk I’d be addicted to a soft-spoken video series about tiny car restorations? I am completely addicted. Great stuff!

I love how the old cars had suspension. I recently bought one of the HWC Original 16 cars (1967 Barracuda) and was amazed by how much better the cars use to be!
@ThomasCollectables5 жыл бұрын
The restoration adds more value than I expected. I can see why though because it gives collectors the opportunity to own an original 1968 car that they might not be able to own otherwise, especially not in amazing condition!

Really good job on restoring that 'Vette! The results look really beautiful!! You know, I wouldn't be surprised if anyone who got a C3 Corvette new in 1968 also got a Hot Wheels Custom Corvette that was the same color as the real Corvette they got from the dealership!!

I really like this one and how you are trying to restore it to the way it came out from the factory. Yeah, this car would been stunning to have all the imperfections removed, but I like it better this way. This is how we remembered them.

Wheels curling down is a real conundrum. Many of my early cars had that, and I never pulled them down as a kid. I still have all my original 16's, unrestored, as played with. Wish i still had them in the packages. I was 8 when Hot Wheels were released. Ironically, my very first one is in the best shape, a gold Mustang. Great video, Thanks.

Just a note of FYI I am a collector from way back, I bought this model new when it came out as did lot of my friends. I still have it and it's near perfect still. You did a fantastic job! Nice work. But I think I can shead so light on a question you had. You asked about the wheels being bent down on some cars. At the time there was some magazines "cartoons" and "hotrod cartoons" they were like mad magazine but about cars. When they would draw a car in motion to show it's power it would be raised in the front and the wheels bent in together we as boys tried to emulate that so we bent them down. Keep up the good work and thank you. Rick

I think the fact that you went with the fresh off the card look instead of the usual better than original look makes this a master level restoration. It really looks brand new. Factory flaws & all! I bet your videos have inspired lots of people to pick up this hobby. Sure got me hooked on it! Lol! Still gotta get a new camera so I can make some proper videos though.Also gotta make me an electro-polish/plating setup too. Soon...

Man, there's just something about the Stingray isn't there? The curves and lines that are almost like an updated art deco aesthetic, it's slightly organic form makes it kind of look like a living creature more than a machine, powerful but also compact and nimble, it's a beautiful little car, and it's a real joy to see a master like you at his work. And you just gotta love that rich, glossy gorgeous paint job, really great work as always.
