Diamond, Fat Joe, Finesse, and Showbiz are all childhood friends from the same neighborhood and the first 4 original members of DITC, as friends, and not musicians. Diamond D was the first artist out of the group before DITC was formed with his "Ultimate Force" single. Diamond and Show were DJ's and producers, while Finesse MC'd (Finesse & Mike Smooth were a group). Joe wasn't much of an MC at the time. His mind was heavily focused on street politics. He was young and reckless. Joe was brought into the industry as an MC by Diamond after proving himself at a talent show or rap battle event. Diamond was skeptical about putting him on for a long time, because Joe was like I said before, young and reckless. Joe was the only member that wanted to go mainstream, which he achieved. A lot of Finesse's earlier work was with Diamond, Show, and especially DJ Premier. Guru and DJ Premier put on Lord Finesse when they discovered him on Wild Pitch records. Premo oversaw Finesse's first album, "Funky Technician". Premier is considered an unconfirmed member of DITC. The first official lineup of artists out of DITC are: Showbiz & A.G., Diamond D and Lord Finesse. Big L was brought in by Finesse. Then Fat Joe by Diamond D, who, if my memory serves me correctly, brought in Buckwild, who introduced OC to DITC. "Showbiz & A.G. made their debut with the monumental single “Party Groove / Soul Clap” on March 17th, 1992. Released as an EP, the eight song set would feature a posse cut called “Diggin’ In The Crates,” marking the first time Showbiz, A.G., Diamond and Finesse were referred to as such." If I'm not mistaking, Diamond D named them as a collective under the song title, “Diggin’ In The Crates”.
