I’m from Philly and I recognize black thought as a lyrical monster and this freestyle is incredible, but to say no one can match what he wrote is a little too much for me. There are many verses I can think of that blew that one out of the water, but that doesn’t take away from what he did, and I give a lot of props and love to him. Eminem is superior, technically to him.

@@mastadon7771 I think we’re people are divided on Eminem is the content of what he is saying, because the things that Black Thought speaks about are more relatable to me but if you break it down to the technical aspect of rap, Eminem takes it hands-down. Even on songs where it sounds like he’s just rapping fast and not seeing anything, he puts things together that my ears have never heard. I love black thought, and I am from Philly, but when people leave a comment and say that it is impossible to write anything better than he wrote, and there is nothing that can match this verse I have to disagree. Go listen to mural by Lupe Fiasco. This verse was good, but there are a lot of other great verses and this isn’t even black thoughts best verse

I've always been aware of the Roots music and would listen from time to time, then I started checking out Thought's solo projects and I truly believe the dude is absolutely top 5 greatest of all time, and just above my man Meth. Thought's rhyme schemes are extremely complex, his ability to string together layers of compound syllables and double entendres is incredible and unlike most of I've ever heard. Dude is sadly underrated and deserves much more credit....just my two cents.

Thought came hard AF...can’t deny that seeing Mef come off the top wouldn’t have been ideal, but it would only be because I’d want to see his personality come through as he spits. Half of my love of Mef is HOW he delivers his rhymes-his gesticulations, etc.
