Who would guess the most cherished manager in Sporting CP would be a former rival player from Benfica, beside his undying love for his former club, he was a MAN with integrity and professionalism. If he stays or leaves I wish him the best.

Amorim is a really good shout as the next manager imo. It"s between him & Alonso & they have very similar profiles in many ways. However, he's significantly more experienced in relative terms & won a lot more too. He's very much "done a Klopp at Dortmund" with Sporting CP as well. He's tactically astute, seemingly a good man manager, appears likeable with a decent personality & speaks good English. He would definitely fit the bill but I'm also fine with Alonso either way but there's no gaurantee that Alonso accepts the offer if he thinks it's too soon so we need a plan B. Regardless of what happens, Alonso & Amorim will both get big jobs soon so need to snap one of them up asap.

@@villainova Lol, thanks, got lucky didn't I. Not saying I always thought Amorim would be the one, more that I wasn't sure Alonso would be, so I looked in to all the candidates & Amorim really appealed to me. I hope Liverpool get him. If they don't, someone else big will.

now that Xabi has bowed out, Amorim seems to be LFC's number one choice by a wide margin and it seems for good reason. his interpersonal skills and man management seem to be as high as his tactical acumen...i am hopeful as my friend who is a Sportingtista loves him and speaks highly of him

I have a good feeling about this man - he could be a fantastic appointment. Alonso might have too much pressure on him with all the ex-Liverpool legend expectations. But Amorim will be on pure footballing expectations.

Amorim will stay in Sporting. He doesnt have any interesse to leave Portugal dar away from is family...only if he doesnt get any team to manage, wich is dificult. He said that if Sporting dont win nothing this season,he goes away but i think the president will make him change is mind, if so. Great analises of Amorim btw 🇵🇹🦁

Liverpool's squad would suit Ruben Amorim's style more and he would be able to operate within the FSG budget. Xabi Alonso probably looks at Bayern Munich as a realistic option to not only dominate Germany but also win the Champions League with their current squad. It's almost a guaranteed success that also sets him up for the Real Madrid job later on and that squad will be at their peak in 3 years time.

You found out? How? He speaks english just fine. He refuses to speak english while on sporting duty a lot of times as a matter of respect, as Sporting see themselves as a Portuguese club first. Sporting Club de Portugal is their name, so he respects this identity of the club, even though while captaining benfica he spoke english a lot in post-match interviews and such (I'm a Benfica fan, so I remember it). He's also spoken english a few times in recent conferences when a translator isn't present (search for his press conference about whether they would bring ronaldo back to sporting, for example). To me it says a lot about his professionalism and respect for club culture. If he brings that to liverpool he'll be a fan favourite.

Look, I love both teams Sporting CP, and Liverpool FC. One thing I can garante you, his Ruben Amorim will have the best environment to work. Number 1 Supporters, you can include me there as Portuguese. 2 The Club structure 3 The family environment, that you would have only in the stadium, you have it in the entire city and across. We are just different. He will be able to implement his work. I wish he could stay one more year. But , he have the chance to became one of the best, and one the best clubs, you can bet it will improve him, it’s Liverpool - We give Managers time.

City under Pep have beaten Klopp's Liverpool by five at home too if memory serves me correct.... He is absolutely good enough, the data supports it, transformed Sporting from mediocre to title winner shouldn't be underestimated given the huge gulf in finances between Sporting and the big two of Benfica and FC.Porto. Totally deserves to be the no.1 candidate.
