I had a 2012 Forrester (sti premium) driving that was like a 2stroke, turbo cuts in, off it went with the tyres down...traded it in for a X5 (for work purposes escorting vips)..in the dunes in Lancelin WA, was going up and through them where a 79 series couldnt climb...and what I will state is...Ive been 4x4ing for over 40years since i was 8yrs old in a 4cyl turbo diesel CJ8 jeep and driven, raced (Dakar) and what will say is the X5 (40D 3L twinturbo, 220kw/650nm) was one of the most capable 4x4s Ive ever driven. The awd system is fkn amazing, it automatically goes from 60% rear, 40% front up and down till when all spin it goes 50 50 and all wheels lock in similar to front and rear lockers. The modes like most to free it up was hold down stability button and abs for 10 seconds turned all aids off and the xtrack.4x4 system front and rear locked and could turn! I got a free $900 service from bmw.when had bet with BMW shop owner that i knew something that no other bmw shop or even hq knew about the auto door opens by button remote, but knew how.to close tail gate remotely too..BMW said BS, we know and theres no code in ECU...till.showed then press 3x and hold keyfobs open tailgate button and closed itself. BMW gave me access to anything in its shop, grabbed couple $550 bags, heap other shit (wasnt that much stock so.took 1 of most item there...on condition kept my cakehole shut. In beach sand, all driving aids totally off... NO other 4x4 could match through beach/dunes (even 4WDTVs Simon Cocksty's supposedly highly worked 4.8 Nissan Patrol).. ....BUT...mud, ruts, EVEN bogged on wet LAWN FFS with the factory fitted 340 x.75x.20s.was useless... Drink up fellas..cheers to all in this group..🍺🍻🍺🍻🍺

Why don't people want to let their tyres down? Is it a dick size thing?
@andrewsnow73863 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelAnderson-ng6bt I think I have some serious answers for what might not be a serious question: Note, I drive deep snow -- not much sand -- but low tire pressure is just as important. So here are some reasons people don't lower their tire pressure: 1) They just don't know how much it helps. They may have heard about doing it, but never tried it and they just don't comprehend the huge difference it can make. 2) They don't have a pump to reinflate their tires. 3) They think they have. That is, they normally drive there truck with the tires inflated to the max pressure for the tire, often 50 or 65 psi here in the states. So they drop the tires to 30 psi (or something like that) and think they have aired down. They don't seem to understand that the tire is still basically round at this pressure, so they haven't gained much. 4) They are concerned they will de-bead a tire. 5) I've heard this for ruts in snow, but it may apply to sand as well. "I'm already dragging the underside of the vehicle. If I lower the tire pressure, I will drag more." True in some conditions, but often not the case.
@MattDoelandMusic3 жыл бұрын
Michael Anderson because they reckon it’ll be fine...I live in the north coast of nsw, I admit I’ve been beach driving and didn’t bother with letting down the tyres thinking it’d be ok...and it wasn’t...got bogged, got out let down all the tyres, all good 🤙🏼
@MichaelAnderson-ng6bt3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewsnow7386 yea all good points mate. I am worried about rolling the tyre(tire) off the rim but I've been down to 15psi on bitumen with no worries. I guess you have to try these things. Just today I was driving on soft sand with 20 psi instead of 15 and I was struggling.
@andrewsnow73863 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelAnderson-ng6bt Oops, I hope I didn't offend by not using the appropriate spelling for tyre given the videos location. :) I actually considered whether I should put the pressures in Bar, or MPa, but I remembered other 4X4 videos from Australia where they spoke in psi. Anyway, in deep snow (often over a meter deep), I commonly run at 5 psi -- standard rims, no bead locks. With some old tyres that I got used, I would occasionally de-bead one. But, since I bought brand new tyres (around 5 years ago) I haven't had one de-bead even running as low as 3 psi. I think tyres with good clean rubber at the beads -- not ones where the rubber has been scuffed by repeated mounting and dismounting -- stay on the rim remarkably well. Of course, I still keep my speed very low when I have the tyre pressure down this low.
