Some much needed hot summer maintenance on the Raptor this week - AC evap core cleaning! Since I purchased the silver 2014 Raptor, I’ve noticed the AC is not as good as in my black 2011 - checked AC charge and system function and all is well there, so my next step was to clean the evaporations core. Luckily that seems to have done the trick - much better cooling and decently better airflow after one treatment. Without a cabin air filter the evap cores on these trucks can get quite dirty, and while mine wasn’t awful, I think it was on its way to being so.

I have a 2011 Raptor, which I believe may have a blocked drain. I think you need to remove the wheel well liner to gain access to the drain. That 6.2l is sitting right in front of it. Anyway, I like the idea of going through the resistor opening. I would still maybe drill a hole to insert the tube, but at least you know you won't be near the evaporator core when drilling. Then it's just a matter of removing a small plug next time you clean the HVAC system. Getting the cleaner between the blower fan and the evaporator core is key to getting it clean. Thanks for the video.

I just did as your video. And I have more air than before. Stronger pressure. Id sweat in my truck while driving. We shall see through the day as it gets hotter.

Now it is just blowing hot air. Guess it clogged it

@@ginasalazar488 Sounds like a servo or actuator. If you turn the temp to auto, run all the way up, then down to 60 degrees or so, you may have cool air come out. If so, you have a servo going bad. FORSCAN will let you see servo positions and errors as well, if you have it.

Good idea, next time I need to clean out the core I'll definitely do that. Thanks for watching!

In my 2019 I drill a 1 inch hole so I could spray coil with cleaner and rinse then I used a rubber plug to close it up

Would this dirty evaporator core cause my ac to work intermittently? I’m fully charged with Freon and just cleaned the condenser.

Not intermittently, but weakly - this could seem intermittent depending on how heatsoaked the truck interior is, but equally likely is a blend door actuator. Thanks for watching!

Did this hold up I’m currently looking to do this and want to clean it out of good faith.

Nothing to hold up per se - I don't drive in dirty environments with fresh air coming into the cabin so no issues since cleaning. Thanks for watching!

I notice condensation building up under the glove box area, under that big box, will this help with my truck because its dripping on the floor mats. Its not exactly a leak but the condensation builds up and drips, its not too bad but i don't want the issue to get worse. Could you please help

Sounds like your evaporator core drain isn't working and is clogged. It's right behind the passenger side header/head, should be a little hole in the firewall and/or 90 degree fitting that comes out of the firewall. You can take compressed air and blow it out back into the cabin and should have a bunch of water flow out from there. Thanks for watching!

So is it safe to just blast the evaporator with a hose then through this access port?

I can't swear by it from experience, but many folks have had luck doing so - if I had to I'd try it. The caveat is that you may flood your blower fan, so may want to take that out and put a drain pan in its place. Thanks for watching!

I ended up doing just that through the Blower motor Resistor hole and since the fan is elevated as the drain is at the far end I was able to just watch is closely and make sure it didn't get flooded. High recommendation to just blow it all free with a hose for anyone watching. Fixed it right up. @@redonKiLaus
