My unboxing & review of the Redragon M908 Impact MMO mouse which I purchased to replace my failing Razer Naga Epic Chroma. If you are in the market for a new mouse for the holidays or maybe because your old one is dying, hopefully this video can be helpful to you when exploring your options. Extra relevant if you have small hands like me!
0:15 mouse basic info
1:06 history with razer & mouse uses
4:15 unboxing
7:42 software
9:04 lighting
10:25 update after using the mouse for some time
This video is not sponsored in any way. I picked out and purchased this mouse on a gamble based on the positive online reviews.

I have the m801 Redragon mouse and the K596 keyboard. Both are wireless and pair well together for general use, typing and gaming. I also like the quieter switches in the keyboard. They still click like a mechanical switch should but they are not nearly as pronounced. They give you feedback without being obnoxious. Both are lit up like a Christmas tree. The keyboard even has side lighting which looks really good.

Also, I took my nagas apart and cleaned/repaired each of them each time they failed, but that only bought me 2-3 months until they failed again, and then again after a couple more weeks. Ultimately each Razer lasted 18 months max, even with the repairs and cleaning contacts and such.

nice honest review - went through so many sshhiillyy youtubers just listing specs and praising it without having tried it. is the scroll wheel click when you turn it, like indentations or is it smooth?
@AbathurSnuggles

it has the indentations but they are very faint. I don't have a problem with "overscrolling" but if you don't like smoother scroll wheels as a general preference, it might be too smooth.

ive been using the redragon perdition mmo mouse for about 6 years now and this mouse has served me very well that entire duration, i only just yesterday ordered the m908, while it IS an upgrade from the last, the reason I got it is because unfortunately, my ol' reliable has started to lose its life and the middle mouse button has finally given in after all the use it had. i trust redragon as a company and endorse them any chance i get on my livestreams, (kinda hoping they sponsor me lmao). glad to see you decided to make the switch o7

Question this is a bit of a long shot. But would you happen to know how to get the left &/or right click to push to disable the 1 & 4 buttons on the side. Reason for this. When playing FPS games with this mouse it's a bit annoying when you get into a fire fight and accidentally death grip your mouse and cause your character to swap weapons.

@AbathurSnuggles
@AbathurSnuggles 5 жыл бұрын
I do play some FPS but don't have the skill level to really notice an accuracy difference since the biggest variable will be myself. If accuracy is your top concern, you should see research the specific type of sensor the mice use since that will be the most important thing for you. Generally budget mice aren't going to be using the best sensors (that's why pros generally use crazy expensive mice) so my guess without testing is that reddragon and utechsmart would be similar but I've honestly not looked into it. If you find out anything interesting, feel free to let us know! Good luck!

I'm replacing a Naga v2, not because of clicking tho, in my case the laser started failing after a few years or so. Looking at this because I decided to upgrade to full MMO buttons, stumbled into it on Amazon, and saw that rapid-fire (thinking of remapping it to GW2's dodge, cause that would be more convenient then either v or double-press). Sounds good IMO...

@@AbathurSnuggles So just got it (I was so fed up I'd rushed the shipping; also got one of their mouse pads with a cushion cause my razer pad had none and lo and behold the edge had frayed over the years I'd had it) and already feel myself falling in love. A big feature that either got skipped over or missed (unless I wasn't paying as much attention as I thought I was) is that there's a mode/profile change button the bottom; I'm definitely going to set that up so I can use the mouse to control media when not gaming then go back to gaming with a button press or two. Heck, maybe someday I'll go masochistic and challenge myself to play something on an emulator using buttons assigned to the side of the mouse just for giggles 😜 oh something I'd forgotten to mention before was that I have never been a fan of the sideways wheel clicks, not because I've hit them accidentally but because I've always had an instinctive, irrational fear of breaking the wheel cause all other mouse wheels before that one didn't move sideways at all and it just felt unnatural lol

Yeah. That said, Reddragon makes several MMO mice - I would check their other options and see if any offer the wheel tilt; they might have a nicer version that does. I would love to have a useful L/R tilt on my mouse. However, I actually didn't end up liking the tilt on my old Naga Chroma; it was too sensitive and I ended up hitting it too often when I was just trying to use the wheel button. If some mfg could manage to find that sweet spot where it was not hard to press but wasn't so easy you'd hit it on accident, I would be stoked to use a mouse with it.

It seems durable; it is still holding strong. I still don't find it super comfortable, but I think a lot of that is related to my hand size. Razer still wins for mouse ergonomics for me, but I think this Redragon will end up living a lot longer despite being so much cheaper. It's pretty sturdy.

For the rapid fire, do one have to click the rapid fire button continuously or just the left mouse button after enabling the rapid fire button?
@AbathurSnuggles
@AbathurSnuggles 5 жыл бұрын
It is not a toggle. You press the key and it autopresses another key for you X number of times. By default it is set to 3 left clicks for every rapid fire click, but in the settings you can change the key, the amount, and the delay... so if you want one click of the rapid fire button to hit right click 100 times, you can.

Don't laugh but do anyone of y'all use mmo mice on ps4? If so then what was your experience? What kind of side button mouse did you use with your PlayStation? And did you have any issues binding the buttons? Because I've heard some MMO mice won't work on Playstation unless they have an onboard memory and even then some of those might still don't work properly. I have heard of others like the Logitech g600 working but I'd like to think there are other options out there

YO I HAVE A UPDATE so if your left mouse button (or right now) is squeeking follow these instructions, lightly start pulling the button up untill it detaches from the mouse after that feel the sides of the button (mine was on the right side of the left button) for a little bump a type of bump that the plastic printner leaves when it has finished printing the object and scratch it off with your nail or knife or whatever and push the button down again untill it clicks , thats how I fixed mine and im assuming its the same for you since all of the plastic was printed in the same way

@AbathurSnuggles

Yeah, the driver download should be fine as long as its one of their official foreign sites. Some of the mice (like the specific one I looked at here) seem to no longer be available in the US so you have to get the drivers on their German site, but they are legit and work fine. My mouse doesn't smell but it's not uncommon from cheaper plastics I think. Hopefully it goes away in a few days.

Yup, it's a nice setup. Depending on how serious you are at FPS, the sensor on this mouse might not be good enough for really high skill shooters. I think for the overwhelming majority of players, this one will be plenty fine but it is a bargain sensor so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't up to par for very high levels of play. If you're a casual FPS player, though, it would be plenty fine I think.

Although this review is for the M908 I have since purchased the M901 which I find to be a more comfortable size since it is smaller and doesn't have the thumb rest. @@AbathurSnuggles Razor was a really good company when they started out. But I think inflated corporatism is killing them. Now they charge more for products that have been cheaply made, with pore quality-control. I have a feeling they also institute purposeful points of failure into their devices so it will break after an amount of time, and you'll have to buy a new one. A lot of tool manufacturers do that, like DEWALT, Makita, Harbor Freight. Just about ever single one of them. That way you have to buy new tools every few years, and can't just use the same saw for 20 years, like you could, "Back in the day"

Its sad that everyone in the industry, including chinese import brands can use quality, standard components like omron switches... and razer and logitech keep cheeping out on subpar switches. I do understand your attachment to the razer shape. I have a hard time leaving the roccat kone shape behind due to the slightly smaller old/good logitech shape they had. I finally picked up a g600 for (and only for) ff14 because i needed the buttons due to ff14's poor class design. Biggest shocker with mmo mice is how rediculously heavy they are. First honeycomb mouse with a numberpad on the side gets my money.

@@AbathurSnuggles thing is the rgb doesn't cost much, and the cheap ones have those as well. I've also realized rgb can be moderately useful for tracking profile/dpi in these mice. There is no trade-off or excuse for Razer and Logitech cheep parts ( Logitech proprietary parts seem up by leagues better than Razer but still worse than the industry standard parts). This is simply large companies using cheep parts for profit while relying on their name.
