@@teetaunjj7894 If they really wanted a name to reflect them and the past, call them the Washington Hogs. In all of sports, only the Arkansas Razorbacks has a mascot of a pig. But Washington has a history behind The Hogs. Even if some kid asks, they'll remember the Hogs. It just fits to me.

I don't know who decided that Indians were offended by this name? I am a Chippewa Indian and I used to wear my Washington Redskins Starter Jacket with PRIDE! Isn't it wonderful that there's people out there that DECIDE FOR YOU what you should and shouldn't be offended by? That SOMEONE ELSE is your moral compass? These Social Justice Warriors are the people who decide FOR YOU NOW! ENJOY!

Commanders is a dumb name and their unis are the worst in the league (plus the Commanders were created by Dan Snyder, which makes it even worse), but the Redskins name had to go. It was a long time coming and had been called on to change for decades.

@@80sFootballCardsand now people including Native Americans are calling for the Redskins name and logo to return. As it should, We didn’t have a mascot, that logo is Chief John Two Guns White Calf of the Blackfoot tribe.

First they were the Boston Braves in 1933 and played at Braves Field. Then they moved to Fenway Park in 1932 and became the Boston Redskins.

I know they had to knuckle under, but would have loved them to have unveiled the name 'Washington Braves' and included some nod to the US military in their logo. Just to watch the meltdown.

And in 1991 the team finished the regular season 14-2 and capped the season with a Superbowl victory over the Bills. The end. PS - nothing of importance happen after that.

sadly for the most part this 2007 timeline covers all the good stuff. The Kansas City History of course needs an update. 😀. Both my teams are indian based for some reason. Just the way it worked out given the lack of local teams and KC wining in SB IV.

George Allen didn't even utilize John Riggins. He used Riggins as the blocking back.

George Allen was a garbage Head Coach. He didn't utilize Sonny Jurgensen either.

Allen was the reason why Riggins left. Gibbs just wanted him back so that he might be able trade him. Fortunately, that didn't happen.

George preston marshall, he owned a pro basketball team in the 1920s, called the Washington laundrymen. He owned laundromats in DC. He was an open racist. The redskins first Washington stadium was Griffiths stadium (home of Washington the first senators, now the Minnesota twins) which had a section for blacks. Griffiths stadiun is now howard university hospital parking lot. Marshall was forced to desegregate because the district goverrment would not allow a permit for his new stadium DC stadium (later named RFK) unless he agreed to allow black players in the redskins. The first redskins was supposed to have been erine davis from the movie "the express" but davis refused to play for a racist. So the first black redskins was bobby Mitchell. Sammy baugh was in the inaugural the very first class of the hall of fame. He played qb, corner and punter and held records for interceptions, passing and punts. His punt record finally got broken by an austrialian punter few years ago. Jack kent cooke and Virginia govenor doug wilder announced the plans for the redskins new stadium in an old train yard in alexandria virgina in the early 1990s. However, Alexandria residents prevented the move and thus the redskins moved to Landover md.

Read your statement, Im thinking those times Dallas rolled over the Skins, it meant something, and Dallas ring count kinda says I'm right because there were quite a few times it meant something and the Skins spent the rest of the season on the sofa.
