Reducing rod couplers, or coupling nuts are used to connect all thread or other threaded hardware of different sizes. For instance, if you have a 1/2" piece of all thread and you want to drop down to 3/8", simply screw on the appropriate reducing rod coupler or nut. We stock reducing rod couplers in 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20, 1/2"-13 to 3/8"-16 and 5/8"-11 to 1/2"-13.
You will also find reducing rod couplers or nuts useful when mounting a variety of hardware to threaded rod and hardware. For instance, if you have a j hook with an angle bracket that has a 1/4" hole but you really want it on a 3/8" rod so it hangs better, simply add a 3/8" to 1/4" reducer coupler to the 3/8" rod and then use a 1/4" screw to fasten the j hooks. There are other applications as well but you get the point.
