Picked up this cool old vise at a recent swap meet, it's pretty big one! 7" wide jaws, around 200 lbs. Kind of always wanted a really big vise, and couldn't say no when this one showed up.
Coincidentally enough, Fireball Tool also just did a video where he strength tested a very similar constructed Morgan vise, with less than spectacular results. It was also surprising to see some of the fit and finish on the brand new Morgan was more sloppy than the used 100 year old example I just picked up! Would be a crime to destroy it on purpose, but I really wonder if the old vise would have fared any better?
