Күн бұрынI decided to up my return game and use my old jebao as a back up. I've heard a ton about the reliability of the reef octopus various pumps. Now I'm going to put it to the test.

There was a simpler way to do this - get a reducing bushing for the 1.25 union and put a barb in that. It would have been less than half the height. It’s good you went with the higher size, reduce when needed, you get higher flow that way and that pump isn’t heavy pressure rated so you will probably get longer life.

Are you still running this? How was/is it for noise? I have a Varios 2, 4, 6 + two OP-2s, all of which are super quiet but a new Varios 8 is audible from 3 rooms away! Pretty sure it’s faulty but trying to get confirmation from other people that have used one. Cheers!

Wow that’s crazy. My varios 8 is really quiet. I think yours is faulty. One of my octo pulse 4s cord finally frayed after 3 1/2 years of use. That’s the only problem I’ve had with reef octopus

@@shallowreefing there seems to be an oddly high number of people with noise issues with the 8 if reef2reef is to be believed but it’s certainly starting to sound like it is faulty. Thanks for replying!

Looking at this VS the Ecotech vectra S2 what do you think?

I don't have the S2. My friend had the M1 and hated it. I think they made some improvements. I'm brand loyal and like most of my stuff to match. If you got radions and MP10s and vectra dosers then for sure the S2. I don't care for mobius. It's a little clunky but it may improve in the future. If you have mixed match gear and want a deal with a little less control ability then go the varios

@@shallowreefing I ended up going with the Reef Octo Varios 2. I have to re do my system all over again.. Now i'm in the market for another sump with a bigger compartment for my return pump.
