Johnny Cash is my number one musical hero, the rebel who found Christ. This mans testimony and music has helped me through some dark chapters in my life.

The star of the show here is Luther Perkins once again! His style was so simple, that's been heavily copied, and yet nobody can even get close to sound and feel that Luther had. He 'was' the sound of Johnny Cash.

I once read somewhere that he could no longer adjust his guitar's volume to a lower setting, and therefore muted the bass strings with his hand, creating the signature sound.

Only sad truth, yes it was Luther's style, But out of the Blue Bob Wootton came along and within year had Luther's style down to a tee and then went on to improve it for 30 years backing Cash. Wootton was a much better guitar player and added a bounce to the style that stood out even more. Listen to the hit version of "Man In Black" could Luther have played that?

unique voice, meaningful lyrics, and awesome guitar style that was his own...I love how he shared his gift with those who truly needed uplifting and he recognized his musicians-gracious.....RIP Mr. Cash

Most beautiful 68 footage ive seen of him to date. Its propably the only footage that comes close to a televised 68 folsom concert. Also very nice to see luther so clearly and the sound is amazing.

This is simply fantastic. The quality of this recording is stunning. There aren't many recordings with Luther Perkins, and certainly not with such good picture and sound quality. Johnny sounds great and I've never heard of this concert before. These three videos you released from this show are truly a rare treasure for Johnny Cash fans. Please share as much of your archives with the public as possible.

This is from a series that ran though 1968. It was similar to Hootenanny in that the show was broadcast from a different military base or post every show and had a different group of artists. As you look at the members of the audience, keep in mind that the vast majority of them were headed for Viet Nam.
