The fact the refs are so scared of giving a penalty is a nonsense as a defense, for why would they not be just as afraid of not giving a penalty if there is one? What it tells me is that they are afraid of going against the money at the expense of the fans, and this is why so many bad calls tend to go against the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, while Manchester City seem to get all the breaks. The league is starting to me to look as as much of a disgrace as the doping scandals in Gymnastics and Tour De France.
