Yes and no. I think there is a good level of respect in football generally. Referees in football do understand how frustrating the game is. Plus in rugby, generally there is far less time during plays to complain to the ref, positioning is far more critical, and it is a far easier sport to use TMO or VAR whatever. There are countless examples of professional footballers who are excellent role models for the game, it just never gets highlighted.
