Additional sources for reference photos mostly for historic buildings and rolling stock include the Library of Congress American Memory Project photo archives. State libraries and library associations also maintain digital photo archives.

Excellent. Opened my eyes to valuable tips on how to research railroad stuff. Can't wait to get started on research. I will be looking for roundhouses first. Thanks Ron.

It was not until after this video had posted that I became aware of Jim Ross' (Jim from Michigan) passing. I came to KZfaq late enough that I only "met" Jim after he learned that he had cancer, but he was a part of the KZfaq model railroad community, and this is a great community. Prayers for his family. I know he will be greatly missed.

Ron great as usal, I used the Google maps to find out about the foutens of my railroad too, even though Kaiser Railroad no longer operates but the rails are still there, and thanks for the hints on looking for more info too, Jack

Jack O Yes, I am amazed at how you can often follow the former roadbed even of lines that have been completely dismantled. It is amazing what you can see with sayelite imagry.

Hi Ron A good and interesting video. I myself also use these internet resources to get my information. Otherwise, it would be a little expensive to travel from the Netherlands to USA to get information. Thanks for sharing. Ronald.

Ron, besides being an N Scale Model Railroader I am also a Train Simulator enthusiast, and Train Simulator by Dovetail Games also includes the tools to build your own routes. Google Earth is also a great tool for building a real world route in Train Simulator. Within the Train Simulator there is a great deal of information on how to quickly turn Google Earth pictures into 3 dimensional drawings that can be converted to the proper type of file and placed into directly into a route where it belongs

on the route. As Model Railroaders we can take these same 3D drawings and scale them to whatever scale we are modeling and print them out on card stock and place them on our layouts. These buildings can be printed out as is and assembled as placeholders or made with built up layers as permeant structures

The BNSF locomotive 803 in the current livery is, as I'm sure you know, the same locomotive as the locomotive in the ATSF warbonnet scheme. When the locomotive was rebuilt, it was run through the paint shop.

Well, I couldn't put those website links in cards--KZfaq wouldn't recognize them. They are in the description, however. Sorry about the confusion.
