I saw the 150 on offer up while searching for a drill press. Researched it a bit and your restoration and videos sold me on completing the purchase. Just picked it today.

I have seen cone covers on the unused shaft of those double shaft electric motors.

Yes the shaft covers were available for some Craftsman motors as an accessory and later plastic covers were used on some Craftsman motors. Several people have experimented with either modifying a Delta shaft cover or fabricating a shaft cover; however, to be honest, I am not worried about an exposed shaft 5 1/2 feet off the ground on the back side of a drill press. My 6" belt sander and my wood lathe are different stories, those exposed shafts are itching to snag something and wrap it around the shaft.

@@JeffsShop I got a clump of hair yanked out of my head by the chuck - when I leaned in to see where I was drilling. Since that happened, anything that spins grabs my attention.

At 20:15, I call it the Arc of Shame :) I may take my OEM feed return spring to a local shop and see how much they want to reproduce it.

Flash, the Arc of shame is a fitting name for it. If you do find someone to reproduce the springs, I will buy several. I recommend you get the double loop version made, they can be modified for use in the 100 and 150 but modifying the dog leg version for use in later models would be difficult.

@@JeffsShop This company can produce any version of the springs. I went there before COVID looking for a compression spring for a Walker Turner SM700 Sander. They had a room next to the offices filled with every spring type imaginable and a stack of paper sacks like from an old hardware store. These were overruns, samples and orders not picked up. The receptionist said take any and all you want for free, just leave a cash tip you think is appropriate. I filled a few bags and gave her two five dollar bills. I'll keep you posted.

Did that company have both springs - loops on each end; and loop on one end, dog leg on the other end?

@@johnd.5480 Hi John, the springs I was looking at have a double loop on each end. But you can cut one end and make a dogleg. Jeff has more knowledge and will likely reply to your question.

At 18:51 you note that the spindle pulley should not be able to pulled up. What does that indicate if it does pull up?

It should actually move up no more than 1/8” if it is moving up and down then one of three things is happening. 1. The side machine screws are broken or missing (no longer doing their job of holding the ball bearings in the bore. 2. The outer snap ring is loose, broken or missing. This would allow the spindle pulley assembly to be pulled up through the two ball bearings on its shaft. 3. The inner snap ring is broken or missing and the spindle pulley assembly is traveling deeper into the head than its designed for. @@JeffsShop Fantastic, thanks. I picked up a 103 a few weeks back, mostly for the Atlas XY vise and assortment of Jacob's chucks. Turns out the 103 runs pretty well, but there is some play in the spindle pulley on lowering and raising the quill. I'm a ways from getting to this project but will check out your other video to gain some knowledge on the parts interactions. Thanks again!
