LISZT vue par Éric Heidsieck :
Le climat des six consolations va en s'éclairant. La première, bien qu'en Si Majeur (Andante con moto), est tendue, interrogative. La seconde s'enchaîne dans le même ton mais d'un tempo plus allant (Un poco più mosso) et côtoie les tonalités changeantes d'Ut Dièse mineur puis de Si Majeur, qui l'illumine un instant. La troisième, en Ré Bémol (Lento placido) me parait, beaucoup plus que la célèbre mélodie de Duparc, être l'illustration musicale d'un poème de Baudelaire : "Là, tout n'est qu'Ordre et Beauté ... Luxe... Calme... Volupté".
La quatrième, également en Ré bémol, mais d'un accent plus solennel (Quasi adagio), doit être jouée "avec dévotion" selon l'indication précise de l'auteur. La cinquième (Andantino con grazia), revenant au ton prédominant de Mi Majeur, est une page adorable, pleine d'élan et d'ingénuité. La sixième enfin (Allegretto sempre cantabile), est une valse effaçant tout souvenir mélancolique. Cependant, une courte coda introduit dans le grave un élément de doute, qui nous laisse sur un malaise... C'est la fin d'un joli rêve !
Saint-François d'Assise Saint François de Paule. Ici les titres et la musique se rejoignent si parfaitement que tout commentaire superflu risquerait d'entraver l'imagination de l'auditeur…
7e Etude Eroïca: C'est le récit d'une "chanson de geste" sur un thème de marche quasi funèbre. Au centre, le ton monte jusqu'à l'épopée. La fin, tragique, évoque l'écroulement du héros qui semble encore défier les dieux.
7e Rapsodie - S'inspirant des improvisations tziganes; Liszt rejoint aussi Bela Bartok en puisant aux sources du folklore hongrois.

LISZT's Six Consolations contain some of the most beautiful melodies of the Romantic repertoire. Relatively easy to perform - which is rare among the composer's rather eccentric and virtuoso compositions - these six small piano pieces are among Liszt's best known works. Liszt had already begun work on this cycle in 1844 and published it in 1850. Éric Heidsieck is one of the greatest pianists of all time. So it's a complete mystery to me why he is almost forgotten. So many many thanks to post this! I hope to receive his complete recordings soon.

Wunderschöne und elegante Interpretation dieser fein oder perfekt komponierten Klavierwerke in verschiedenen Tempi mit klarem doch anmutigem Anschlag und mit perfekt kalkulierter Dynamik. Wahrlich intelligenter und genialer Pianist!
