I think the Flying V that you called offside in the Germany game is a continuity error. It's onside in the Iceland game and if you look in the Germany game they definitely pass it up to Jesse before the blue line, but when he receives the pass it looks like he's between the circles. I think that's more bad framing than a hockey mistake.

Coach McKay was part of the official team since she was the teacher. Also it’s okay to change a Jersey mid game. I went to an Ontario Regin game and it was military night. The Regin wore white as well as the road team, so they changed to their home blues. So changing mid game does happen but it’s very rare.

For the jersey thing. That’s actually happened. The Cincinnati Cyclones were in Toledo playing the walleye and the two jerseys were too similar and Cinci only brought their away so the officials made the walleye change from their specialty jerseys into their normal home ones.

I think the assessment of only a minor on Iceland for intentionally slashing Banks in an unprotected area as retaliation for a goal is the worst call in the movie. If a junior hockey player did that in reality they would be suspended for the remainder of the tournament at minimum, be sent home early, and likely face additional discipline from either the international governing body or their team's.

I. Hell yes, I'd love to see you guys ref D3. II. Suggestions for other hockey movies to ref: - Slap shot - Mystery, Alaska III. I freely admit that I'm no ref myself, but if I were, here's how I would've called Dwayne's lasso scene: 1) Too many men (people?, it is a co-ed league after all) on the ice. I didn't see anyone get off the ice when Dwayne leapt into action, so that's a bench minor right there. 2) Interference. Yes, the Iceland player was gunning for Connie, but he was also trying to get to the puck - which Connie was trying to dig out of the corner - and Dwayne very clearly impeded him. 3) Illegal use of equipment - or more accurately, use of illegal equipment - namely the lasso. 4) Skating without a helmet. This ain't the 1970's, boy; put your goddamn hat on! 5) Hitting from behind. I admit this one's a bit of a reach, but hear me out. Dwayne may have been several feet away from the Iceland player, but he still used his equipment - illegal though it may have been - to make contact with and bring down said player, and he was directly behind him when he did so. 6) Game misconduct, Dwayne is ejected. I completely agree with you guys on this one. Even though there was no intent to injure, the illegal equipment alone is probably enough to toss him. Also, as a ref, I'd probably want to have words with Dwayne's coach after a scene like that. 7) Roughing/Interference (on Connie). After the Iceland player gets up - and it's clear to pretty much everyone that the play is dead - Connie shoves him right back off his feet. Here's the really crazy thing, though: the play is still live. We don't hear a single whistle until after she knocks him down, and Connie had to skate away from the puck in order to meet Dwayne and the Iceland player, so potentially she could be seen as impeding the Iceland player's path to the puck. Whatever you decide to call it, though, Connie is definitely getting two minutes for that hit. IV. One more thought regarding the lasso scene: What the Cinnamon Toast F--- was everyone else on the ice doing while Connie was digging at that puck? She was all by herself for almost fifteen seconds before another player - namely our Iceland friend - got anywhere near her. That's almost as absurd as using a lasso on another player and getting "two minutes for roping." Connie shouldn't have had more than three or four seconds TOPS before at least two other people swooped in and started digging at the puck, themselves. Also, now that I think about it, why was it taking her so long to dig that puck out of the corner when she didn't even have anyone getting in her way?
