Thank you, this is exactly what I had seen growing up and I wanted no part of it so I dressed differently. Seeing their perspective of the same people is refreshing because I've always associated that attire with a bad lifestyle.

The difference between them and our Raza was that our people were living a lifestyle that didn't just come with the fashion but also with a lot of negativity. This wasn't a fashion but a way of life. And part of that life involved a lot of killings including innocent people from people who represented barrios who dressed like this. So while it may just be a style to dress like Raza in Japan our people lived that lifestyle and this just happened to be what our Raza wore. So it's no surprise that you were stereotyped because many low lives who ended up in jail, dead, killed innocent people and who didn't amount to sh*t in life dressed like this too !! That being said, I just want to make it clear for any peasants on here who don't know that this right here ( gang banging, which we call tirando barrio in Spanish ) was originally a way of our people uniting back in the 20's, 30's, 40's, and coming together to protect each other against the white majority who used to take advantage of our Raza, discriminate, and beat them. Which is where us Mexicans born in the States from illegal and farm working Mexicans eventually became to be known as Chicanos. Local Los Angeles neighborhoods and the Pachucos from ( later known as zoot suiters in Los Angeles ) Chuco Town in Texas were the ones who formed these barrios ( neighborhoods ) to protect each other. All of this dragged into the 70's and 80's where eventually the drug trade started growing and eventually this style of dressing came about and became known worldwide through the 90's where eventually it also started changing over time and now it's obsolete here in LA. It's now a part of the people who lived through these eras and now can be seen as a retro movement to dress like this since people who still bang out here don't dress like this anymore. This isn't cultural appropriation either for those sensitive Raza nowadays acting like black people who think that everything is being stolen from them 😀. The example I like to give is that many people out here Los Angeles have been wearing for the last ten years Italian designer clothing. Does that make any of those people " culture vultures " or appropriating Italian culture ?? Nah !!! Japanese are not changing the name of this style nor are they claiming this to be originated by Japanese. So fuck all you peasants with poor minds on your period. Mexican/Chicano pride Ese 🇲🇽

If the Japanese woman makes more money doing Chicano type music then an actual Chicano rapper, then it might be considered more problematic. That’s where culture appropriation is harmful, but that is because of the systems that are in place, not the individuals who participate. African Americans have face this a few times where clothing brands owned by white people will make more money copying urban styles, but African American brands don’t get the same attention or praise. It sucks, but there is not much a person can do about it, but be conscience of it.
