In this video we made an anode of precious metals containing alloys and elements. From the anode we extracted and refined palladium, gold and silver.

From a career chemist and someone who taught chemistry at UTSA, the easiest recovery of silver from AgCl is to air dry the AgCl, then just mix 1:1 by weight of AgCl and soda ash, put in graphite crucible and melt, you can then pour off beautiful silver metal, easy peasy. No need to reduce the salt or oxide beforehand. Nice presentation.

What are the losses of AgCl during melting, since it's somewhat volatile (like many chlorides)? Certainly this method is easy, but does it provide the some recovery?

@@Tyresio12 no losses, if you heat AgCl under NaOH, basically you are converting the silver chloride to silver oxide which decomposes to silver metal and oxygen at around 300C

Hello I think you survived by boiling the gold precipitated by tin and lead with sulfuric acid (?) What should be done if the solution was nickel and solder? Or is there a pre-cleaning method you would recommend to get rid of tin, nickel, solder and lead in the first place? Respects

I had more than 15l solution with containing all those metals;))its more than 2 weeks that im so lazy to filtering ..

Put it in a 5000ml beaker on an electric griddle and put some kaowool on the unused surface and on the sides of the beaker. It minimizes waste of electricity because the heat will only go through the beaker, and it will prevent having to re-evaporate what condenses on the walls of the beaker and rolls back down into solution. That’s how I concentrate my waste for subsequent recovery!

Hey Owl, Great Vid. Your best yet I reckon. Love your new set-up, New lighting, and new camera?? Well done you!! Just a thought but right at the beginning would it not have been easier and a lot quicker to just pour the melted alloys into cold water to make flakes? These dissolve very quickly and easily. Keep up the great work.

Actually a thin sheet dissolves much much quicker than shots and I've learned this from expedience. I don't know why... Shots have much larger surface area...

It is easier, but it is not quicker and you will have more residuals. Cast and roll is the by the book method and the best bang for the buck.

What will be solution temperature When you adding 20% ammonia ? Is it cool down or hot solution?

It’s cool but since the reaction is exothermic it heats up quickly, it should be heated further until all pink precipitate dissolve. Then should be left to cool before filtration.

I finally got some USSR material, flat ICs with legs parallel to the floor and gold caps on top and bottom. I'll have to send you a picture through email I don't have a clue what they yield and selling on eBay can usually yield a bigger payday, or equal to the gold yield

👍тоже так делаю , укажу на небольшие ошибки после аммиака при добавлении соляной кислоты стакан не надо охлаждать надо немного подогревать ,тогда вываливается полностью.при восстановлении не надо много муравьиной надо немного соды или каплю гидрозин гидрата ,промывать кипятком несколько раз

Напротив,точно надо охлаждать и соблюдать от 0 до 10 градусов Цельсия и пха не ниже 1,5,если нагревать,то часть палладозамина превращается в тетрахлорпалладат аммония,читайте по больше книжек

Be careful of the vapors from melting random electrical parts. A little Beryllium in a bronze spring or relay reed and you will be very sorry and very sick.
