I have stripped my radio, is it ok to sand the nicks and scratches out before I spray on the laquer finish?

lacquer some times 25 sheen ,sometimes gloss, what ever the costumer likes ,we are buying from Mohawk right now

Mohawk makes a concentrated liquid stain that you can tint lacquer with or mix it into lacquer thinner and shade with it ,they also make toners in a spray can www.mohawk-finishing.com/catalog_browse.asp

the same lacquer from start to finish ,it would be best for you just to buy the toner in a can ,it would be cheaper and easier
