Dear Faithful,
The Protestant Conundrum: Chalcedonian Christology vs. Marian Doctrines
One of the perplexing challenges Protestants often encounter is their affirmation of the Council of Chalcedon and its classical Christological formulation of the natures of Christ, while simultaneously rejecting key teachings associated with the same sources. The Tome of Leo, the cornerstone of Chalcedonian Christology, also teaches the perpetual virginity and sinlessness of Mary-doctrines Protestants typically deny today.
This inconsistency highlights one of the messes within Protestantism, raising questions about the selective acceptance of historical theological positions. How can one uphold the Christological conclusions of Chalcedon and yet dismiss the Marian doctrines endorsed by the very same authorities? In this video we highlight this inconsistency of Protestant apologist Anthony Rogers.
In this video, we will delve into Scripture and the writings of the Church Fathers, demonstrating their clear support for the perpetual virginity of Holy Mary. Join us as we explore the historical and theological foundations of these enduring Marian beliefs and their significance within the broader Christian tradition.
