With the Pacers trailing entering the fourth quarter of Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, Reggie Miller took over, scoring 25 points in the final frame en route to a game-high 39 as Indiana roared back for the win 93-86 at Madison Square Garden on June 1, 1994. He also had a few choice words for Spike Lee, who was taunting from the sidelines.

When Reggie or Michael came to town back then you knew it was gonna be awesome. The NBA on NBC was absolutely the best tv of the 90's. Marv and Matt together were awesome. It's always killed me that Marv had that sex scandal because it would've been great for him to call Jordan's last game instead of Bob Costas. Costas is a baseball dude all the way. Marv was the basketball calling daddy.

Just watching how the game in general was played is so different than today. Now that all 5 can shoot the three the floor is so spread open. Watch when shots go up here: at least 4-6 guys throwing elbows for inside position to grab the rebound. You don’t see that anymore. If you ask me the three pointer ruined the game. Change the rules: no more than two guys permitted outside of the 3 point line at the same time on offense or it’s an illegal offense. No more wide open threes for everyone: make your shooters have to fight through the center and forwards to get open, centers and forwards should be positioned inside the three point line and in the paint at all times. Bring back old school post-ups and jockeying for position inside for the boards. Real basketball.

This put the Pacers in a position to upset the Knicks and win the series. It forced New York to have to win at Market Square Arena to win the series and close it out at Madison Square Garden in a Game 7. This was the same game previous year that New York lost to the Bulls, due to MJ, Pippen and Grant's defensive plays on Charles Smith.
