Reggie was easily the most underrated player ever, people who didnt saw him live see only his stats / accolades, thinking he was just another Klay Thompson or something... the dude was an assassin trolling the opponent with his game and psychological warfare, even Michael Jordan (the only dude to get under his skin), you see he averaged 18 ppg for his career but most of those came in the clutch and in the playoffs he turned into a superstar (playing better than Steph Curry etc. in the Playoffs), he would deliberately just chill and get under your skin then come in with the daggers later when it mattered and then show you the "CHOKE SIGN" having the last laugh, he had the confidence and it was more fun than just blowing out the game early.... He was also EXTREMLY LOYAL... he could have went to Bulls, Knicks, Magic (play with Shaq) and win rings but turned it all down.... could you imagine him with Shaq/Penny? Michael Jordan/Bulls wouldnt have won ANY rings if Reggie played in Orlando.... and Reggie would also had his well deserved respect..... He still would have got at least 2 rings if it wasnt for Shaq/Kobe in Finals and if it wasnt for Ron Artest in 2004 going PSYCHO, they would have beaten the Pistons.

This was damn near 20 yrs ago & I "STILL" marvel at this guy's ability.. Despite the collapsing "Help" side defense in this game, he "STILL" gets to the hole due to his Iverson type quickness at 6'6 LOL!! It's SCARY to think what "THIS" MJ could do within today's defensive setting, especially with his SUPERIOR athletic ability..

You forget though that 'MJ' nearly averaged a triple double one season and almost 6 assists a game for his career. Your rant about 'MJ' being a ball hog would make a hell of a lot more sense if the guy did'nt shoot 50% from the floor for his career, remember that dude.

The only reason Miller was able to occasionally put up numbers on Jordan is because Jordan was busy being the best team defender in the league and helping out. Phil Jackson said in this book I have that Jordan was sometimes vulnerable against guys like Reggie who would just stand out beyond the 3-point arc and bomb away, because Jordan was such a fantastic team defender (i.e., he'd go to help on penetrations, post players, or when other guy's men were coming off screens to receive the ball etc.)

@Velohart Many modern players will do try to do this but a good percentage of 'em are usually travel violation because they don't time their hop before ending their dribble due to pressure from hands around trying to tap and steal the ball, they're forced to use their other hand to hold the ball for security, but almost too soon hence the extra step should be counted.

@Vstrat0 He never had his palm under the ball, held the ball with both hands or had the ball above shoulder height before he took off with a hop with one foot. According to rules, he was only allowed 2 steps after ending his dribble which in this case was after the hop. Look carefully when he had one last bounce> ball still under his palm>hop off one foot>OTHER HANDS comes in, then both hands held the ball>2 foot landing>take off for the jam.

@Vstrat0 Tex Winter's(NOT Jackson) triangle offense and Jordan's all-around play(he and Pippen setting people up) is what enabled them to score so well. John Paxson wasn't destroying people off the dribble, but Michael Jordan being double and triple teamed allows Paxson, Cartwright, etc. to get MUCH better shots than they would get playing with someone else. To say he never carried that team is absolutely ridiculous. Also, the offense of the NBA overall back then was on a whole nother level.

@RickyMoss true, those where 3 of the toughest. there a couple or so others. mike is the best because his peak was longer than any of his contemporaries. he had many challengers but at the end he still endured. but most people liked him back in the day because of his highlights. i used to want magic to beat him, but i wanted to see mike get a sick dunk also. and it usually happened like that.

@PatrickEganLong The 80's we're great and so was the 90's. Man it cracks me up when some people try to say when the Bulls started winning the Lakers,Celtics & Pistons got old, did they ever care to once think maybe the Bulls just made them look old. Of course the Bulls could'nt beat the Pistons,Lakers & Celtics in the 80's, hell look who MJ was playing with, players like Dave Corzine and Gene Banks, give me a damn break. Pip and Grant did'nt join until '87, the Bulls we're inexperienced then.

@BigTimePride Well 6'9 isn't that small and Rodman was a beast and a hustler, but I agree that the league was watered down, Jordan had no real adversary(that was also on a good team), it wasn't like Magic vs Bird, which in my opinion were the most exciting basketball years... two full teams, each with equivalent weapons and each with their star players... great b-ball. I sort of always hoped we would see that competition with Melo and Lebron... too bad. Go Denver NUGGETSSS!!!!!

this is just one of those days where jordan is not on it. in terms of his shooting and turnovers and what not. he's ALWAYS consistent in his games. but once in a VERY great while, he'll mess up. and in this game vs miller who's a consistent shooter every single game, it was just the wrong time to not be on it. That's all.
@HectorHMora
@HectorHMora 12 жыл бұрын
my argument isn't about who is better, the only fact I am trying to point out is that Jordan shot the ball a lot of times for such a short career. He was a ballhog, and from him we have the modern day all about me NBA that you see today. A bunch of ballhogs and showoffs. Lebron is a breath of fresh air because he is a Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson combined, and which remains to be seen, could potentially be the greatest basketball player in history.

I don't think Reggie was as much a "dirty" player, he was more of a "scrappy" player. Dirty means that you're out there doing things that might hurt someone (like sticking your foot underneath a jump shooter to hope they come down on your foot & possibly turning an ankle or something.)

Michael was so great that the first year he missed the Bulls could have went to the finals if it wasn't for a cheap call to help the Knicks go to the finals. Yep that's a great player...yeah right! Check the facts, after breaking up the Bad boys defense of Rick Mahorn then the Bulls beat the Pistons. Of coarse the middle lane for Jordan is easier to drive without Bill, Dennis and Rick. It makes a difference!

Jaboo82681, I hear you with the Knicks/ Bulls series and I don't disagree. I'm just tired of the MJ is the G.O.A.T crap! I personally believe MJ is a great player but he said himself that he is not greatest (on youtube.) Akeem is better period and won his first championship with NO Stars and he beat Kareem his rookie year to play Boston, Shaq, David Robinson and Ewing to win his championships. He scored 40+ on the Celtics in the championship series. Jordon bet Starks, Dumars, Byron Russell and (Clyde which stayed on the bench in foul trouble every game.) If you want know who is the better player ask Kobe, LeBron and D Howard as they go to Akeem to learn his moves. Check who is the shot block leader in NBA history, the leader in quadruples, the leader in steals (as Center), assist and tell me how he matches up with Jordon (the most marketed player in NBA history!!) Check what other player did in their careers before giving him the G.O.A.T. Let him Akeem play each other and you'll find out which is better. If you counting rings then Russell end of story.
@troyjones5156
@troyjones5156 7 жыл бұрын
Jabpp8268 you make good points but based off of what you are saying Michael won a game because Paxton hit in PHX, Kerr hit a last second shot too. Michael start winning Championships when he got Scottie. Who was the next "great" shooting guard Michael played against...Clyde then who? I did say great. I Named a list on centers that Akeem beat and you haven't said any great shooting guards. They talk about Michael shutting people down...okay. Not great players like Clyde, Iverson and Kobe. When you start naming your top ten great "shooting guards" throughout history check how many Michael played against and who he shut down. I think you if you take Kobe you would get a better shooter but Michael is a better defensive player. I don't hate Michael I just remember the 7 years before he won his Championships. Wasn't he great the 7 years before he won. THE MAN IS A GREAT SHOOTING GUARD but he isn't a great power forward or great center. Michael is not a better rebounder than Akeem, a better shot blocker, a better low post scorer that Akeem and Akeem played all those years being double teamed. I'm just saying people forget how great other players are sometimes but I do respect your opinion because you know basketball.
