I remember the earlier episodes when you were so conflicted about whether or not to cage it. I maintain there's no real overlap between built street car and focused track car. If you're in that limbo between the 2 there's too much compromise for the project to max out its potential. Now the car has crossed that no man's land it'll be a better track machine than it ever could have been. Top job mate!

I mean, I haven't even watched the video yet, but I guess if you're going this extreme in order to extract 100% of the car on the track, the cage can't be removable... That's it. On the other hand, a heavily built K24 with a huge turbo, on a partially gutted Ferrari 308 chassis, with a sequential gearbox specifically created for racing applications... Getting a car this focused for track time, means making concessions elsewhere.

@@stanceworks I have seen better fiberglass work done by drunk men working in the rain on a weekend with zero skills. And yes I have worked in the fiberglass industry for over 20 years building everything from carbon fiber body kits to boats to industrial pipe work to high pressure containment vessels so I can honestly agree with you. Total junk workmanship, honestly did they even roll any of it or at least pat it with a brush to consolidate it?

I'm relieved good judgment prevailed regarding the use of this car. Cars built to extreme specs belong on track, not the street. BTW, the cage is only as strong as the chassis. Given the marginal workmanship on this car, that's a concern. Go fast, be safe. Risk your neck, not others.

Man, I have so much respect for someone who can admit when there's someone who can do the job better than they can. And on top of that, make an entire video about the quality of the work done pushing business to his business. I would love to work with someone that can give compliments and pay respect where respect is due. I think the cage was the right decision and the work is incredible.

Your content is so well produced. It seems to just get better and better (which it presumably would, given you're getting more and more experienced) and it just leaves me wanting more. I can't wait to see the coverage of this thing down here in Australia. Riley's work looks stunning. His effort on your Ferrari is a thing of beauty and the Trans-Am is a masterpiece. It's nice to have such friends!

Anytime I start making excuses about my garage being small or my tools being lacking or what have you I remind myself “so many other have done so much more with so much less” and Riley building this thing in a lean to might be the absolute best example of this. I can not believe that nobody has brought up the fact that while watching this video and how Riley is welding!!! I began watching the video and watched how the tig torched pulsates. I'm thinking to myself like oh OK? He has a nice welder because he does it's all the time that does the pulsating automatically.... Then you brilliantly show that HE IS doing the pulsating himself manually. Does anybody not understand how much of a BEAST that makes him?!?!?!?

Had a cage built over 40 yrs ago in a hayshed. The dude that built it made a damn good job as the car got rolled without bending it. The important point as mentioned is too make it as tight as possible to any interior metal body points so as to minimise crush in the event of an accident.

Beautiful cage. Good call on the FIA bar. It's very effective. Tubes are strong in tension and compression. Tubes are very weak in bending. Vertical columns like the main hoop legs and FIA bar do the brunt of the work of keeping the roof away from your head. Consider practicing egress. Check to see if you fit through the windows, especially while wearing a helmet and hans device.
