The two stringed instrument being played with a bow is called a Kobyz and is a traditional Turk and Kazakh instrument. Not only does dimash have a seven octave range with five semitones he also performs in most genres of music from Opera to contemporary, from pop to rock. The amazing thing is he does them all equally well and for dimash well really means to perfection. He has been training in both classical and contemporary music style since he was five years old. Igor Krutoy is quoted as saying that “it was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way.” When Dimash first listened to the melody of "Stranger" he felt that the addition of a kobyz to the musical arrangement would give the song a unique, yet very fitting sound. Thus, the kobyz made its debut at the New Wave Hall at the Sochi Olympic Park, and what a great choice indeed. It is a beautiful sounding instrument that seems to underscore the song’s deep meaning. This wasn’t the first time that Dimash has featured Olzhas Qurmanbeck playing the kobyz. He was born into a musical family and has been vocal training for 22 of his 27 years. He's vocally incredible but also a wonderful human being, kind, humble, hard working, funny and down to earth. He heads charities and quite often donates the proceeds from his concerts to charities that have an urgent need. Dimash sings in multiple languages (12 at last count), in multiple genres (from full Opera to rock, pop to folk, rap to classical, and many more inbetween as he’s seemingly always experimenting with ‘something different’), and he sings across multiple octaves (>7), and occasionally combines those multiplicities within a single song. And he plays multiple instruments to boot! Stranger (this song) is a newer one which just premiered at New Wave 2021 in Sochi, Russia. New Wave is an annual song festival organized by Maestro Igor Krutoy who was also the composer (and the pianist) for this song. He came out of retirement to resume composing for the amazing Dimash and that duo has produced some amazing numbers. You may be the first reactors to start a Dimash journey with “Stranger” (since it’s so new), most start with “SOS” (I’d recommend either the version from the Chinese “Singer” competition or the “Slavic Bazaar” version).

I only recently discovered Dimash after ignoring him in my KZfaq recommendations for over a year. I figured he was just the latest pop "sensation" and I generally do not listen to that genre of music. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have since watched hours upon hours of reactions to his various performances. I mostly watch reactions from professional vocal coaches, many with backgrounds in Opera. I came across your channel, and like you, I am absolutely amazed by his incredible talent, ability, vocal range and dynamics, his delivery, as well as his stage presence. You have barely even begun to scratch the surface of his talent and vocal ability. I am looking forward to your next reaction. By the way, some Dimash fans are almost cultic to the point of fanaticism and they get outright defensive and combative over any perceived criticism of their "object of worship." Quite sad really because I am fairly certain that Dimash himself would handle criticism with much more grace and kindness. They would fare well to keep in mind that Dimash is just a man, not God. I am simply an admirer of good music and talent, regardless of genre, and do not count myself among the Dimash fanatics, but I am utterly amazed by him. From what I gathered, Dimash is from a very musical family and started singing and piano lessons at the age of five when he was found to have perfect pitch. He is university-educated with degrees in classical/opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical master’s class and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition; his thesis was titled: "Personal Image of Traditional Music". He graduated with Honours, achieving a perfect score of 100%. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. as he wants to teach music after his singing career. Dimash has diligently honed his craft and developed his God-given gift for more than 20 years now and it shows. I read somewhere that Dimash used to swim 3 hours every day to increase his lung capacity. It's not just raw natural talent but tremendous work, dedication, and discipline to achieve this level of performance. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a much-loved national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He was even offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is getting pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn. Dimash also plays six instruments; the piano, dombra, guitar, xylophone, cello, and drums. During his live concerts, he usually performs for more than two hours and treats his audience to an eclectic mix of styles. His range is 7 octaves and 1 semitone (A2 to D8; F2-B5-F6-G#7), spanning across all four registers. As many probably know, the four registers, from lowest to highest are: vocal fry (pulse), modal voice, falsetto, and flageolet (whistle tone), and Dimash seems to effortlessly navigate between them, often within a single breath and without a break in between. Dimash has even hit a D8 for ~5 seconds with vibrato, the highest note ever performed during a live performance. He sings in multiple musical genres. His main genre is classical crossover, but he also sings classical music (bel canto) pop, and world music. He uses musical elements, and vocal styles and techniques of many other genres, including jazz, rock (e.g. screams), RnB, musical theater, even rap.

There is a wide variety of music from Dimash. Stylistically, Dimash is classically trained since five and has also had contemporary and traditional vocal training. The instrument is the kobyz (qobyz): a traditional Kazakh stringed instrument and the artist who performed with Dimash is one of the best - if not the best - in the world. Dimash has sung in over twelve different languages, but his native languages are Kazakh and Russian. He has been improving his English and Chinese. (Very popular in China.). As much as I’ve been listening to this daily since its release, obviously we have different tastes, but keep looking and I’m sure you’ll find other songs that may appeal to you more.

Two years ago, I sceptically clicked on a reaction video with "The World's Best Singer" in the title, and got ready to mock the uploader for being so clichéd - until this guy called Dimash opened his mouth, that is! The fact that it could actually be true, had never even crossed my mind - I was just blown away, and had to hear more, like, right away! Several hours down the Dimash rabbit-hole later, I knew I'd found my new favourite singer - and I swear that to this day, he never stops surprising and impressing me! Before I knew it, I was saying bye-bye to my usual English-language-only, rock, R&B and rap collection, and found myself falling in love with his unique genre-crossing style - and yes, the gorgeous man himself! And I don't mind admitting, that I'm OBSESSED with this performance of «Stranger» - in fact, it might just be my favourite song *ever* from him! And believe me, there's some stiff competition, with songs such as «Samaltau» and «Love Is Like A Dream» constantly battling for the top position in my heart, alongside literally dozens of others - any of which, Id love you to feature on your channel? Has a vocal range of over 7 octaves and has trained in classical vocals since age 5, now 27. He is highly gifted not only vocally but also plays several instruments He is athletic as a horseback rider, swimmer, biker, tennis player.... He inherited his musical propensity from his parents, his mother being a soprano for the Kazakhstan Opera. While he was born with musical gifts, he has put in 6 hours a day to perfect his skills and continues to do so. He is also trained in contemporary and pop vocals. He is stunning every time he sings and you caught his most recent song. This is performed in Russia where he often performs. His piano accompanist is the great Maestro, Igor Krutoy who has written for and accompanied some of the greatest singers of all time. Any singer who gets to work Maestro Krutoy is highly blessed.
