Regulating EVERYTHING On My FREE BMW 528i... E39 Window Regulators Are Easy, REGULATING Is a Skill

Windows? Regulated. Interior Temperature? Regulated. Gasoline? Regulated.
What started out as a journey to replace the driver's side window regulator on my free BMW 528i turned into a quest to regulate everything about the car that I possibly could. While I was in the regulatory mood, I also replaced the faceplate for the climate controls inside the car. I also try a few of those fancy KZfaq box opening techniques. There's something for everybody in this video today!

I guess it depends on the vehicle, the one in my 2004 F150 went out, took me all of 20 minutes to install it. The hardest part was finding the 17 different sockets to fit the different bolts. Yes because the 7 mm just weren't as strong as the 8 mm and the 6 mm were the right size for the freaking door handle...nay nay, 7 mm was TOO freaking HUGE for it.....

I wasn't too familiar with window regulators when I got my first e36, when I sold my last one I am now a professional lol. My first bmw e36 had it's window broken, before I bought it (it had a lot of things wrong, 400 dollar car.) I swear to God, it took me three days to figure out how that whole mechanism worked. The e36 has the absolute dumbest window mechanism known to man, I had a shop owner tell me he just goes and looks for a whole door that the window works, because it is easier than to try to fix that crap 😂. I'm assuming he was kidding, but he's not wrong.

We need to see a Maaco paintjob on the BMW... take it to the Maaco that Hoovie brings his hoopties to.... they seem to do a very good job. 🙂 That should "regulate" the uneven color and fading of the car's old paint. 🤣

I'm definitely feeling more regulated now. Probably because of the cat. or the magnets from Mineral Auto? Doesn't matter. Congrats on not making the FreeMW worse during the repairs! This is why I don't do my own work...not because I can't do it, because I usually break other things while fixing the first one. Cheaper to pay someone to break other things.

There is an aftermarket cupholder available that is just a shallow tray which sticks on top of the tray area in front of the shifter (and is tall enough to cover the broken OEM cupholders). Won't hold your drink if you're cornering at maximum g-force, but it also won't break. I put one in the E39 I had.

Hey Elliott, great video on the FreeMW. I did observe a moment of science for the Hellcat, I'm now ready for your next adventure. I found the tutorial on regulating fueling up the car so useful. I'm third!! I had to replace the regulator in the driver's door of my '98 Town Car; however the regulator and motor is one unit. And the glass had to come out too like on your FMW. I gave up on it and took it to my mechanic.

Very interesting video. That car is so delightfully BMW in the right way. Understated elegance and purity of design. Nothing about the design is for show. Everything is simply right. One of the few BMWs I would own. Hope you keep her close to stock. It will be interesting to see how many miles she can accumulate, since she is only at a quarter million so far. My old Volvo is at 400,000 and I am aiming for a million. We shall see if I live that long. The car will make it with no problem

Did you remove the chrome trim piece on the outside of the door? It makes removing the glass considerably easier. But great to see another E39 staying alive!
