Why are you supporting adoption when you should be doing the right thing and supporting The over 98% of birthmothers who want to keep parent their child they just lack the support and resources to do so. Nobody is entitled to somebody else’s child adoption is not a family building tool because you do not grow your family off of another family that was going through a crisis. The fact that you’re here, trying to facilitate adoptions makes you know better than these human traffickers themselves. You sell human beings for profit.

You are a legal guardian. As an adult adoptee who also had to deal with dependency court in Jacksonville FL and I also drove emotionally handicapped high schoolers as a school bus driver I know this issue from all sides except those who call themselves a parent without being one, or working for these child trafficking agencies. You only get one mother and father and these are not transferable relationships with money or papers or any other reason. I say this knowing my actual parents were no more a prize than the people I was forced to live with till I was 18.

They know that, as do I, they have ongoing contact with their fathers and other relatives. I maintain that I am (also) their parent, as I am legally performing parenting duties.

@@lichi1244eva I have performed "parenting" duties on children I have not created as well and I have given birth to children as well. I have even in some cases had an easier time with children who were not mine. To call yourself a parent to children that you did not create invalidates the term mother father and parent. In the middle of this comment I had to stop and take my real 94 year old Grandma to the bathroom because she is demented. She really can't do very much of anything unattended anymore it took me 42 years to find her and some of my family and all I get is a two year old who is sometimes more work than a newborn with far less gratitude. I have a " parenting" role according to you. I am NOT her parent I am her actual Granddaughter I am the wild Seabury grafted back in who despite all of society telling me I cannot be me found out who I was with sealed records and everything. So let me tell you what you are doing with these children and what I have done with my Grandma and a widowers kids and with other people's kids who I drove on my school bus, and the kids who came over from across the neighborhood because their drug addict parents ignored them and a strange woman they didn't know hanging up clothes in a yard that wasn't theirs was safer to them than their own home where if life was fair they should have been safe and belonged. I have been a mother, a school bus driver a potential step mother for years, and I am now a I'm caregiver and secondary medical proxy for my real Grandma who neither cares about me or what I do for her or the fact she gets to.stay in and keep her home only because of my good graces ( without even the care givers stipend 24/7 with only 3 hours off a week). You are a guardian and caregiver and as long as a proper search up to and including third cousins was done by a neutral party who did not make any money for getting these children transferred to your care you are probably good for them. Otherwise they are stolen by the government for your benefit not theirs. You are not their parent though you are a caregiver and if you really care about those kids you will not insist on them living a lie and dismissing who they are just to inflate your own sense of self. What we do as caregivers is not about gaining a title that doesn't belong to us. What we do is because it is the right and loving thing to do and you don't have call yourself something you are not to do that. Go watch Colleen dewhurst and Megan follows in Anne of Green gables as the characters Anne and Marrilla Cuthbert said it best. Anne said "can I call you Aunt Marrilla?" And Marrilla said " I don't believe in calling people names that are not their own." And Marrilla and Mathew raised Anne not as their daughter but as their beloved child in their care, as a wounded little bird who had no one else and they met her where she was at and they did not have to call themselves her parents to do so. The whole thing was total and honest love with no strings attached and no lies either. So continue to care for the children however If you continue to insist you are someone you aren't the lie will continue hurt you and those kids.

Yup and animal shelters do it during adoption days basically. I've seen it constantly at livestock auctions. This is how they treat the children...

Same here, but to adopt a child as a single in Germany is nearly impossible even fostering is !

Thank you for your honesty. I think this is a subject that most first-time parents who want to adopt a newborn don't really consider because they think a newborn is not as "damaged" as an older child in foster care, but the truth is that any child who is adopted experiences trauma and we need to be equipped to walk with that child through the healing process.

I know, it's sick. I've worked with a volunteer-run agency that helped to rescue and rehome cats and kittens; we treated them with far more respect and humanity than these children are treated (I fostered for them and adopted my cat from them). And vetted potential adopters more carefully.

I remember in the 1990s there were a huge amount of international adoptions happening from countries of the former Soviet bloc. A lot of these children turned out to have severe behavioural and medical problems, which naive American parents were not aware of. Orphanages couldn't wait to get rid of them, and once they got to the US, they were no longer their birth countries' responsibility. Some of these adoptive parents though were frankly awful. I recall one news story about an American couple who actually got arrested for child abuse when their flight from Russia arrived back in the US, because of the way they treated a pair of 4-year-old twin girls they'd adopted in Russia throughout almost the entire flight: screaming at, hitting, shaking, and threatening them. I don't know what became of those poor kids. And what was even more shocking was how a number of passengers on the plane defended the parents, saying that the children's behaviour was "out of control". There was also a case of a single adoptive mother who took her adopted son BACK to Russia, and left him at the airport with a note attached to him.

My 3siblings and I were adopted from Moldova (the poorest country in Europe) Me and my siblings were called to the office at school and were told that we were leaving school early that Friday to go on a surprise vacation. We went by the house because my adoptive mom said she forgot something and was told to stay in the car. Of course, my other siblings got out and I followed to go to my room only to find it empty. So while I was dropped off at a stranger's home, the rest of the family went on vacation. My older sister and I were in the orphanage together and she attempted suicide many times after I was kicked out of the family at the age of 11. I would say that yes I had behavioral issues but not anything extraordinary or any different than most children. My adoptive mother was extremely controlling, abusive, and not an affectionate person. I would get in trouble for getting water without permission (crazy stuff like that) In the beginning I used to hide food under my pillows and bed because I didn't know when or where my next meal would come from. I also had a lot of trauma from the abuse I endured in the orphanage that was never dealt with (my adoptive mom thought every problem could be solved by shoving medication down our throats, instead of working through them patiently together. It was awful.

I'm curious why you think your parents should have consulted with you and your siblings if you were all grown , married with kids of your own , living elsewhere etc before they adopted ? Also if your Mother was "Not a good Mother" to you , you felt bad about what she "Must have endured" , did you ever contact anyone about your concerns or did you just leave the child enduring it ?

@@shari9721 we did contact authorities about our concerns, my sister, myself and my brother. As usual authorities did nothing.

Wanted to add about 8:30 Bundy said parents need to understand trauma. PREACH!! Well meaning and well intentioned just means an additional layer of psychological harm if you're not prepared to handle trauma.

@@jenniferburns2530 Yes, but in reality it’s almost always done only with adopted children, because frankly it’s always going to be easier for parents to give up on a difficult child who isn’t biologically theirs, especially a child they didn’t raise from infancy, because they’re not bonded with the child in the same way. Blood is thicker than water, but it’s not just about blood, but bonding. That’s what makes it harder and harder for kids in the foster care system, the older they get. It’s a harsh reality of adoption that isn’t often addressed. Nature in a way gives us this long infancy for our own good, so our parents can’t help but fall in love with us to the point that, even when we get older and bigger and no longer so cute and lovable, they can’t stop loving and caring about us because in a way they’ll always see us as their “babies”. Kids in the system are robbed of that kind of primal bond with parents. Adoptive parents of older children can go into it with the best possible intentions, but they can never fully make up for what was lost. Not that I’m excusing the ones who throw away adoptive kids like defective merchandise; it’s appalling. But it’s understandable why this kind of thing happens only to adopted kids.

There have been a couple of episodes of the TV series Law and Order SVU about “rehomed” adopted kids and the shady private agencies that claim they’ll find good new homes for them; they were shocking. No parent should ever be allowed to hand their child over to complete strangers, but it seems it’s perfectly legal as long as you dot all your i’s and cross all your t’s. As long as you’re the legal parent, as an adoptive parent is, you can basically hire a lawyer to draw up papers and hand the child over to whoever you want to, then the kid is permanently out of your hair. It’s sick and evil.
