Modern dressage "riders" have no excuse for their destruction of the sport when they have such an exquisite model in Reiner that they could be emulating.

Ich finde seinen Reitstil schrecklich und auch grob. Sein Pferd trägt hinten nicht.

@@susannehamm5298 Rough definitely not, the horse occasionally grimacing means the rider did something bad, yes, but it's nowhere near as common as others, and it doesn't necessarily indicate that the rider is being rude to the horse, he's just hitting something wrong. There's a difference between bad and rough for me, and at least at home, outside the pressure of the competition, he rode really nicely. About hind legs activity, I agree with the piaffe. But then there are canter pirouettes and canter in general, and his horses have a very nice one, and very low, at least compared to normal, their canter is really top. Even extended trot is pretty nice. I know it is not perfect, but stil i think it is beautiful. Ty for reading, srry for my english, have a nice day, possibly for an answer.

. “ ‘I try to ride in dressage, so the spectators must look,’ the gray-haired and soft-spoken Klimke said after receiving a score of 1,797 (71.88 percent). ‘In this test, this was his best ever.’ ” Grand Prix score 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. 7l.88% - far from 100%.

Is it me or is the commentary of back so much better than today?! 🤔 No annoying music, simple yet descriptive comments to the point and, I think, gives some information about what is going on that non equestrian could follow what is happening.

Only complaint about this is the piaffe but the rest is wonderful

True, it was lacking energy. I wasn't all that impressed with the walk either, could have a bit more overstep. However, his changes/half-passes and tempis were lovely. I just love how relaxed his horse looks. No BTV like you see today. It makes me cringe!

And note in the piaffe how he handled it gracefully. No force and arguing. It wasn't going to happen, moving on. No sense losing the relaxation. Unlike today's cramming and jamming that I see as an adult amateur. This was my idol as a young rider, and it still stands. Timeless technique

Conrad Schumacher would say that Klimke has “the breathing leg.” (Did he learn to appreciate that by studying Klimke or did they have teachers in common?) Klimke would have remarked “tail pending” as he so often does in his training videos. Even the vigorous swings in the tempis look happy!

That is a harder test than the current test....those one times to the second pirouette.....doubtful that many could complete that today.
@lithelui19493 жыл бұрын
This is pretty much the same test as the one that is ridden today ;)

I noticed that more testing nature too. A true test of the horse’s flexibility, engagement, obedience and relaxation as compared to the circus performance tests of today which seem to be written to reward flinging the front legs about and downplay incorrectnesses. Consider poll position (by the rules the highest point of the neck), head (by the rules vertical or slightly ahead of the vertical but never behind), ability to show difference in frame (flexibility) and cover ground in extended gaits. All these now seem seem to be disregarded by the judges except in the most extreme, impossible to ignore cases.
