Are you in the middle of a reinvention? If you’re up for it, share your story in the comments.

This month marks the 6 year anniversary of my own "let go" day. That same year, I was turning 50. Yikes! I decided then that I needed to change course rather than jump back into another corporate job. It can be very scary at this age but I wouldn't trade this sense of freedom for anything. Life's too short to be living a life that doesn't make you want to spring out of bed every morning. I'm so grateful!

So true! You've got so much to offer and I can't wait to see where it all goes!

Very similar story here, although mine was 3 years ago, and I was ‘only’ 42, but I resonate with all of this. 3 years in and it’s still balancing between uncertainty and excitement, but I would not want to go back to somebody else’s priorities. ❤ thanks for making this video 😊

I love this Rachel, I turn 39 soon and this is a fantastic video to help with the big 40! I also quit my job and started full-time on Amazon KDP & KZfaq at 38 - so completely agreed about it never being too late for reinvention!

This video was much needed! I set up my digital agency in my late 30s and now I'm 41 and can't stand working for clients anymore. I am also in between moves and I want to start a brand new career (which requires studying) + a few side hustles. But the great part about being 40+ is that, regardless of how "late" it may feel, you now know what you truly want! Thanks Rachel :)

You're so right and I totally relate! I wish it didn't take so long to figure things out sometimes, but that's life I suppose! Wishing you an amazing year as you start this new adventure!

I started my KDP journey last year, but due to family commitments, it's been a climb and I'm still climbing, I have published 12 books and Only sold 3. I hope this year is more fruitful than in 2023

Three is a good start! Try to take note of what's working about those three books and try to replicate it in your next ones.

If you are in your 40s today, you will live long enough to experience age reversal technology. Billionaires in the 60s and 70s are chomping at the bit, and it will trickle down fast, maybe immediately, thanks to Super Artificial Intelligence post-AGI. (I'm 34)

Trust me, there’s a lot of torment in this decade. Then hold on to 48 as long as you can, for in that year, you are neither young nor old. Other than that, Rachel, wanna get married?

Exactly, the second 40 years assuming we even make it to 80, are not at the same level of capability as the first 40. Once 50 comes around, your cognitive powers decline SHARPLY and learning new information proves way harder, than when you were 49. Energy levels are much lower too, and the opportunities to switch income sources is reduced. Change is not impossible but let us keep things realistic.

Well, I guess everyone's different. I'm halfway through my 40s and it's my best decade yet. I don't worry about the things I worried about in my 20s and 30s, have much more experience to draw from, and I feel mentally better than I ever have. As long as I feel generally happy and like I'm making some sort of contribution, there's not much more I can ask for.

@@RachelHarrisonSund I was not knocking your overall message and video, just sharing my own experiences and that of people I know. A lot of changes happen as you know in the body, and the scary part is it happens really fast. I'm slim, healthy and very young looking for my age (52), but in the past two years I have really gone downhill, although stress, money security and isolation have played a major part in that. But hormones etc do affect what is possible.

so much upheaval in the last 4 years, let alone the last 20+ ... single parent, late 50s with two dependents trying to fine tune where the path ahead leads. [video feedback - my brain gets overstimulated/irritated by the change in shot all the time so I rarely watch your vids]

How are you managing personal life, work, kids and 40s midlife crisis?
@RachelHarrisonSund
@RachelHarrisonSund 7 ай бұрын
I'm not entirely sure I've hit a midlife crisis yet (although last year felt pretty challenging), but the biggest helpers for me in managing my personal life, work, and kids have been routines, systems, and a LOT of self-compassion when I screw things up (which is often).

Hi Rachel, I took your low contents course. Are you still making books for KDP? Looking for someone to say if you play by the rules Amazon will leave your account intact.

and yes totally ready for a reinvention. I've been working my tail of learning lots of new skills but I feel like I need to make one thing work and have it up and running before I implement new ideas. But I also want to quit my job, take on a job I like with a starting wage way below my current wage and then spend the next two years living on whatever I can make after veering away from a job related to my degree. Kind of a perfectly timed video, as always.

Yes, your account will *most likely* be fine as long as you keep strictly to KDP's terms. There's no guarantee of anything when it comes to KDP and Amazon, but you'll be safest if you always play by the rules.

You're right to focus on one thing until it's successful before introducing a second thing. You don't want to spread yourself too thin! Thanks for watching. :)
