Got rejected from MIT, went to a state school, and currently on my second job at age 26 making $194k salary as an engineer. Where you go to school doesn't matter. Just get the degree and opportunities will present themselves.

I don't think anyone makes the point that you will earn less if you don't go to MIT, but it is an objective fact that MIT will provide you a lot more connections than most 'mid-tier' universities.

@@jackyhuang6034 my current job “requires” 20 years of experience, which I obviously don’t have. Technical engineers only make between $75k - $200k salary. I make more than the government employees I support that have PhDs. My point is life isn’t fair. More education/going to a prestigious school doesn’t always mean you’ll be more successful in life. Hell you could do a few self-paced programming classes for only a couple thousand dollars and get enough certifications to work at a FAANG company, which pay $180k - $1.2 million/year with no college degree required. I’ll never make that kind of money as an engineer unless I go into management.

Got asked to write why college was important in HS and proceeded to write my entire paper about how college is largely pointless, wasn't going to help me, and keeps our society under a glass ceiling whilst wasting our time and resources. I aced it. Still had to attend college but I was absolutely right as a young person.

I got rejected from one of the biggest universities because I got F MiNUS on my final exam and D MINUS on all my tests. So sad, I then went to China buffets all you can eat university, they accepted as a dishwasher major.

Must really suck if you really wanted to go to that school and be rejected. I only ever applied for one university after graduation. Took the exam and accepted. But I had to apply for another school due to an opportunity for scholarship. Took the exam there and passed. Finished my degree there. I wasn't like the others who applied for a lot of universities.
