This says a lot about the attention to detail Bungie put in their AI.

I like how the Elites function more as an army, and seem to be generally smarter than the brutes. Would be interesting to see if their AI played a big part in this. Perhaps a Flat Terrain 1v1 would show that?

May I suggest that the elites had the uperhand by having half of them being majors/officers, while the brutes had only minors. Elite majors/Officers have stronger shields and slightly more health then elite minors.

Imagine putting the Reach Elites vs the H2A Brutes the most powerful Elite AI vs the most powerful Brute AI in Halo. Also I’d love to have the Brutes use the spike nade instead

So there's a few things here that made the battling a little unfair.. firstly the spawns, if you can't choose specific location for each spawn you should put them further away so that way not just half the brute team is fighting at any given time. The line spawn is inconvenient when the lines aren't parallel with each other. Maybe spawn the two teams on opposing sides of the map? If not at least a little further away. Secondly the weapons, we all know spikers are garbage we can't kill anything in Reach with those lol. It's not a surprise the elites won at all but at least give both teams all variants of weapons they normally hold to give it some sort of fairness. I.e. brutes use spikers, needlers, plasma repeaters, concussion rifles, and gravity hammers. Maybe including each different variant and rank of both teams would make things even more exciting! Lastly is the map. Amazing job by the way I noticed it was lone wolf instantly and it looks fantastic in the daytime setting! However in relation to the spawns, one team was always at a higher altitude than the other which gives even more of an advantage. Don't get me wrong when it comes to Reach elites will always win against the brutes, (can't say the same about halo 2) but I think the odds should be a little more fair at least. Perhaps in the future you can switch spawn points between each round for possibly a different outcome? All in all it was amazing and I enjoyed every second of it. Keep up the great work please and I've got my bell on for you! :)

I think that the elites were given a bit of advantage here, brutes were fighting up hill and had a much worse group formation, they were set up to fail. It'd be cool to see some experimentation with strategies to try and give the brutes a bit of a tactical advantage to make up for lack of shield.

What's really cool about this battle is while the Brutes had the initial advantage of an early aggression, the elites had the long run of victory on trying to be tactical and all that jazz.

Elites are as iconic as MC himself. Since Halo CE back 2001 up to today, I've never seen an enemy AI fight as well as the Elites. Not in Wolfenstein, not in COD, not in BF, heck not even on DOOM.

For fairness you should have swapped their spawn locations after each round.

I'd love to see some mixed unit combat. Something like 5v5 with 4 normal units and one chieftan/elite general on each side. Maybe 1 elite and 4 grunts vs 1 elite and 4 jackals. I'm interested to see how robust the squad and leader AI is in Reach.

I think a flatter surface, and more equal cover on both sides would definitely change the fate of the battle. Also, many of the elites were officers and had much stronger shields. Minor brutes vs minor elites or chieftains vs officers, that sounds like a fun AI battle to watch.

The Brutes had their own version of the Plasma Weapon. It burns and was extremely hot, when fired.

The elites terrain was far supeior than the brutes. Was sorta an unfair battle from the start. Especially with the elites spawning line being more effective than the brutes

The elites seemed to only send one forward at a time, who would then fall back at low shields and trade out. This keeps the fire off of the rest so they can maintain fire and put out more damage without worrying about evading danger. Very interesting.

Man, the Prophets really fucked up when they decided to replace the Elites with the Brutes.

I wonder if you can throw some special variants into the battle, like Grav Hammer brutes. Maybe they could count for 2-5 brutes to make up for the extra firepower.

You should get some more birds eye ‘halo wars’ shots with these battles. Seemed like a missed opportunity. Also kudos to no giant red arrow in the thumbnail 😉

Elites are so OP in Reach and I kinda like it!

These battles will be better to watch when the eventual release of H3 and the brute variations. If you include those anyway. Some brutes raging and charging the elites I feel would've really hurt them. I did kind of expected the Elite to win straight up, since regenerating shields are a huge advantage, but this was fun to watch.

This was really interesting to see. The edited Lone Wolf map is a cool testing ground. I was wondering, though, why you gave the Elites Majors and even an Ultra or two in the last round, but didn’t give the Brutes any Captains? They only had Minors, so that put them at a disadvantage right off the bat.

The Elite shields definitely give them a huge advantage, since they can regenerate shields vs the Brutes who can't.

wow one thing i realised about the elite is that one goes forward to draw the brutes fire while the other elites provide cover fire. and then they take turns when the elite at the front loses his shield

It's kinda funny because the brute's worst enemy seems to be other brutes in the canon as well.

It would be cool to see a mod that replaces player models with other units in the game. Marines, grunts, jackals, etc. Could see a lot of people use that for machinima purposes if it's ever a thing. Already, ai battles mod presents a new option for film makers. Good stuff.

It would be cool to see elites lose shields and whip out they’re energy swords to charge at the brutes and seeing the brutes go berserk when near death charging the elites with a gravity hammer or they’re shoulder charges from halo 2, that would be awesome
