The smartest and most academically capable person I know got rejected a few days ago and I was shocked - it goes to show that it isn’t about your intelligence or your academics, but about where you fit in or where you can best flourish

Rejection can feel embarrassing, but to everyone who experiences an academic rejection... know that you don't need to feel embarrassed. It is a normal and common experience in academia. Rejection doesn't feel good, but know that if you become a post-grad/grad student... you'll navigate academic rejection quite regularly. Grant applications, conference applications, job applications. Same is true if you pursue work after your undergraduate program. The first few times rejection happens, it is really hard. I find it gets easier to navigate as you encounter this more and more. You also realize that everyone else is navigating this as well. It happens to everyone- even the smartest scholars I know! Keep up your good work in the meantime! Sometimes feedback you receive during rejections helps you towards your success.

Your success is directly correlated to how you react to rejection ✅

"I haven't experienced failure before" can't relate

'jealousy implies I didn't want her to get in' UGH so true, I used to be such a jealous person (I still am a bit) but I never once didn't want other people to have success. It's hard when you want something and another person has it, but jealousy isn't way forwards ❤️

I got rejected from my top 2 college choices. Now, 12 years after college graduation, in a career completely different from my degree, it doesn't even matter. COLLEGE itself doesn't even matter after a certain amount of time (just the friends you make). It's silly when I think back on it, the pressure we put ourselves under as kids to be perfect so we "get in."

Holy hell that was two years ago? I I was thinking a few months but wow. I've been very out of the loop.

Some universities become big, put so much pressure on students to get in, let them have a decent job with the title of uni behind them and eventually drain their bank account. It doesn't matter for them how good you are, or how this rejection might affect you mentally, yet you accuse yourself of not being good enough for them to get chosen (not you I mean everyone who feels rejected) This system is garbage. Better not to get in their trap! Be happy with yourself!

I think Oxbridge already has a very clear idea of the type of person they want to accept.

I also got rejected from art college in my country. And you know, I felt exactly like you did about this. Now I also have kinda bittersweet feelings, but I believe that whatever happens, happens for the best.

I got rejected from Warwick university and I ended up going to a different university which I ended up loving even more! Rejection seems like everything in the moment but it can lead you down better paths

I found out I’ve been rejected by Oxford 2 days ago. Took a day to recover and this video definitely helped.

I just got the notice from UCAS that I was rejected from Cambridge. I thought it was the end of the world. But then later I got a conditional offer from Warwick. Guess it's not that bad.(still waiting for three other uni tho)

Yeah I also think jealousy is the wrong word. There have definitely been times when I've been envious because other people have gotten into places that I've been rejected from but I don't want them not to have that thing, I would just also like to have it.

I always believe that there is a reason for everything, for sure life wants for you a better oportunity or better destiny on the Uni you are right now, at first I tried to enter at uni at my country, it wasn't easy but I fight till the end, there was a point where I say this is the last time I'm going to try it and fortunately I passed. Got rejected from Cambridge a few weeks ago

I was in the same position as you. I was rejected by my dream school the first time around and it hurt a lot because not only was it one of the top two schools in my country but I knew a lot of people who had gotten in (I went to a very competitive Catholic all-girls school). I ended up in a so-so university for my first year and was incredibly motivated to re-apply. I was lucky enough to have been given a chance to transfer to my dream school and I've been really happy and content. That extra year of being in a different city and studying a course I was a 100% not passionate about made me realize how badly I NEEDED to transfer to another school and how much I loved my dream school. This past year has been an incredible whirlwind and I have been given so many opportunities. So, to anyone who is dealing with rejection, I hope you channel your energy whether its re-applying or doing well at your current university. The universe is funny and sometimes we don't see the clear path that is set out for us. :)

Looks like you're still holding onto the Oxford dream, you were rejected over a year ago Ruby, if you still go on about this, you'll never get over it. Academic grades and working hard don't guarantee you a place at Oxford, they clearly wanted someone who has an all round personality and not someone who always obsesses over grades and studies for so many hours of the day.

Ruby if you don't mind. I have a advice for you. I think you spent time on much like youtube and instagram. In my view you should quit youtube and other social sites. Getting admission on Oxford isnt easy as it seems. It needs hardwork as you did but also sacrifice. Hope you didnot mind mh comment cause this is a free advice. Best of luck for your future :)
