From the frenzied album opener "eXisTenZ", CANDY's intent is clear; It's Inside You kicks off as violently as possible. Cited as thriving in "this jumble of gothic industrial and digitized metal" by Pitchfork, the single minute, thirty-second track twists and turns as a contorted thesis statement for what will follow. Tracks like "Dehumanize Me" continue this trend, establishing an interplay between ferocious hardcore stomps helmed by guitarist Michael Quick, with pulse-pounding, electronic rhythms set against this monstrous riffing. "Dreams Less Sweet" crashes and bashes onto the record, while vocalist Zachary Quiram mourns the modern condition: "dreams laid dead/stuck grieving/how do you fight the feeling?/are we living in a world just to die?" Album tells the story of a metalhead Sat night: alone listening to bolt thrower, at the pub for a hardcore show, after party at a rave, waking up with the fear. Bloody fantastic.

Incredible album, metalcore enough to be tastefully catchy without getting annoying and death metal enough to be technically brutal as fuck and most importantly fucking HEAVY METAL as it should be played, as others have mentioned this popped up and the name/cover intrigued me, possibly one of the best pieces of music I’ve ever heard, share this people!

It’s ok. It’s a decent album but not an album I wanted to hear from Candy. I was really hoping the hard lean into electronic was going to be more like Transcend to Wet, but they went the opposite direction. Party Hard and Booty Sweat, or whatever.

The vocals are terrible but the music is great,i guess a band like this feels obligated to have a vocalist screaming his ass off, it's no good and its ran it's course,its time to go back to clean vocals

Maybe in 1999 this is interesting, in 2024 its meh.
