Trev heads out for a mid-week hike, and a change of heart has him changing route, but he is rewarded by the sights and sounds of Dartmoor in springtime in this ambient circular walk.
Trev's weekly walk (from the week before the 'unlimited exercise' restrictions were announced, saw him once again heading up to Dartmoor with the intention of taking in High Willhays, but a change of heart and had him question whether he should or not. So after carving another route back through the lanes and tracks, he was treated to a beautiful landscape, some stunning scenery, and the sounds of a vibrant spring time in the Dartmoor countryside, with birdsong, cattle and riverside ambience make for some good relaxation footage. And then theres more of your images sent in from your own lockdown walks. Enjoy!
This video was filmed on a Panasonic HC-VX1 ( amzn.to/3dAhXQ6 )

Another great film Trev! Your so lucky to have so much on your doorstep. You often mention View Ranger. I've looked at this but, being new to hiking I'm still not sure about it. YT Video makers often review their kit, which I'm sure people greatly appreciate as I do, but nobody ever (that I know of) review their app of the day..... View Ranger for example. What's the best subscription, how to use it, best features etc. Be a great opportunity in this lockdown period, to use, in your hike, and show off the apps best features maybe?? I know I'd really appreciate it! Cheers for now

Be joyful and keep the faith Trev . I can hear the depression in your voice. Not like you at all. Just remember how much pleasure you bring to us oldies that can’t get out and about. You are a treasure. Such a joy to watch your videos Keep Safe this will pass all part of life’s rich pattern. Very hard for you young people. Love to you and your lovely family

Thanks Delcia - really glad that you enjoy the videos and its pronounced Trevor not Treasure hahaha! I'm ok, was quite low at the beginning of the year before all this but to be honest, being at home with the family, having time to focus on editing instead of work, and being able to get to the moor once a week.... I'm feeling considerably happy.... trouble is I won't want to go back to work haha!

Enjoyed this one very much. The first time I went to walk to Yes Tor (horrible, drizzly, cold day fifteen years ago) I got just a bit farther than you and did exactly the same - diverted and thought, I'll crack Yes Tor another day. As it happened the route I'd planned would have been a real slog. Since then I've found a better, more scenic route up and crack it quite easily. In fact, my wife and I did it on a Christmas morning a few years back and had a good swig of malt at the top (on our own, not a soul in sight).

On Dartmoor, 'Steps' usually refers to stepping stones, and Cullever Steps is an example of this I believe. It occasionally refers to cascades but this is often disputed, as seen at Yealm Steps where I was today after being off Dartmoor for nearly two months. Great video. Best wishes, Max

There's a lovely pool very near to Cullever Steps where Trev walked. At Cullever Steps (just before the concrete bridge over the river), take the track north for just a couple of hundred yards. The pool is in the East Okement river on your right. GR SX605923. There's also a couple of small pools on the Black-a-Ven Brook as it drops down the hill to Cullever Steps though they're quite small and really just for dipping.
