Looking forward to hearing how this ends up! Do the lacewings reproduce and stick around, or do they eventually die off and need to be ordered again? How big are they?

They are teeny tiny....we released them about 2 weeks ago and so far I cannot even tell that they are in the house at all. They will not survive if there aren't any "bad" bugs to eat, though. They will need to be ordered again if they die off before any "bad" bugs are around. Most species of green lacewings adults live around six weeks. Thanks for watching and commenting!

What a great experiment! My wife and I have struggled with mealy bugs on our orchids in the past and ended up ditching the entire plants. I wish I would’ve thought of this

😂😂I didn’t have much luck with them … I’m looking for suggestions on indoor bugs the plant community has had luck within because I want to try them in my garage and home for my plant collection. Thank you for watching and commenting ❤️🪴🌿💚

Where do you live that you get so much light and giant plants? My place faces north here in the Midwest and I'm so jealous

Hello! Thank you for watching and thank you for your kind words! I am lucky to have many windows...one side of my home is south facing, so I am lucky that way! I tend to move my plants around often in order to regularly expose them to sunlight. Thankfully, they are all happy and gorgeous. I appreciate them all for bringing so much joy into my life!

I also live in north facing windows and luckily one east facing but I had to buy a bunch of growlights and they seem to be working.. I live in the Rockies mountains and it's very dry here so I have to have humidifiers too

How did this end up working out? Were they effective in treating the mealy bug infestation? Were they noticeable?
@plantluxxe

Hi! I never really saw them anywhere so I don’t think they ever hatched? But, apparently you’re not supposed to notice them with the eye. I plan to release something else soon. Not sure which kind of bud, but I think I will look up summer Wayne oaks content and see what she’s tried. My plant collection has gotten so huge that I need to use beneficial insects to keep the bad bugs away. Mealy bugs suck. My Hoya are mysteriously getting them and I have NO IDEA where they are coming from. It’s crazy. And a pain in the neck😂😂😂 Thank you for watching and commenting here🪴♥️💚 I appreciate your support!

@@plantluxxe interesting! Please keep us posted about your beneficial bugs! I have heard tobacco is an effective pesticide. I believe the nicotine kills the insects it comes in contact with. I hate despise mealy bugs as well! My go to method of elimination is submerging my entire plant for a couple hours to drown the mealy bugs. This has been the most effective method eliminating pests I’ve ever used, BUT when it comes to GIANT plants like the ones you have it would be REALLY difficult to find a space to submerge a plant that big!

Im over here looking how to get rid of these bugs to find ppl putting them in their home 🥲 I only have 1 plant that’s outside my window and now I have these bugs getting in my room and on my window at night time I need them out and away 😩😩

HI there! Oh dear, that sounds scary! I am not a huge fan of bugs either, but the ones that I released in this video aren't even visible to the human eye and they eat the bad bugs (in theory). Try using neem oil mixture, OR try 1 part 70% rubbing alcohol with 4 parts water. That'll usually do the trick. Also, be sure you seal your window so that those bugs outdoors cannot get in through your window hahaa.....but, honestly, that's hard to prevent unless you spray a bug shield in your home... At least 2 times a year, I spray my windows and doors and thresholds with a home bug shield. Keep me posted on your planty advntures! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Yikes!!! I've only got about 40 plants and that's terrifying to no end. Pests vs beneficial bugs flying around I would be scared to death if they get in my bed or my mouth or even fly by me so kudos to you for daring to release them. Question: did you feel all itchy while and after touching them? Lol 🙈
@plantluxxe
@plantluxxe 2 жыл бұрын
😂 😂😂 I don’t think they even released honestly because I haven’t seen anything. I think I got scammed on the bugs. 😂 they are so teeny tiny though that you can’t see them or feel them. I do use other beneficial insects in my greenhouse area… bugs used to bother me but they don’t anymore. I think it’s my inner plant mom kicking into mama plant bear mode and giving me super human resilience to insects that used to freak me out. 😂😂🪴🪴 I stop cringe when I see hairy spiders though…eeew. 🌿 ❤️ thank you for watching and sharing!
