A Pressure Relief Valve or Relief Valve is a special type of safety valve system used to control or limit the pressure in a system. It can be manually or automatically controlled from a pressurized vessel or piping system. The pressurized fluid or gas is discharged to a reservoir or atmosphere to relieve pressure in excess of the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP).

When it mentioned SP@100 PSIg, exactly at 100 PSI PRV will pop up or when pressure goes above 100 PSI, excess pressure will be relieved, and pressure always maintained at 100 PSIg? what it means ..

Hi Asad, like you said example 1D2, whereas second Letter D stands for Relief Valve Orifice area 0.110 sq inch. Who will finalize this Letter, process engineer or PRV manufacturer? 1:44 Also when you mention API standard, pls mention the number. In this case its API 526
