What the highlights don't convey is the epic battle between Tendulkar/Gambhir (later Harbhajan too) and Steyn/Morkel. Tendulkar took most of the strike against Steyn and Gambhir faced the music against Morkel. The ball was swinging around, Steyn and Morkel were bowling brilliantly. But Tendulkar and Gambhir fought hard to keep them at bay and managed to play out that last session on day 2 and the 1st hour on day 3. That meant India could save the game on the final day and avoid a series defeat. South Africa were 130-6 in the 2nd innings and had it not been for Dhoni's defensive captaincy, India would have had a great chance of winning their 1st ever test series in South Africa which still eludes them.

One of the most hard fought centuries Sachin scored. But it also has to be acknowledged that he did get his share of luck surviving an appeal when on 49. That looked like a sure shot edge.

Don't know why Rahul Dravid did not succeed in South Africa because even though the conditions there are tough but he was considered as a very technically correct batsman so I am not saying he should not have failed at all but he just did not score any runs in his last 2 test tour in South Africa and had only 1 century and 2 half centuries in this country despite touring here 4 times.

Dravid was perfectly suited for ENG with pure swinging pitches, also in Aus with bounce & spin but it was constant. In SA It's more uneven bounce and pace.Body blows confirm for any batsmen. Ball bounces from good length to head height. And the next ball keeps low. Sachin made that late adjustments in stance for each bowler in a different way. For morkel he stayed inside the crease in back foot. For styen he was out of crease on front foot but ready to play late. And for bowlers like tsotsobe with not much pace, he always tried to attack and get runs in that over so that he can play out next over. Dravid more or less had same stance for each bowler and mostly defensive mindset. One good ball and how our perfect ur technique and u r gone. It's imp to score runs when u have opportunities in difficult pitches

@@satypk8664 Many 50+ scores? Hardly any. His bad speed was gone. India lost twice to England at home and away. India lost to Australia badly. He shat the bed in these three series. Dhoni's test match captaincy was ruined because of these senior players and by the way you are an Incel. 😄😄😄
